wrote to Halifax on 13 Feb reclaiming PPI got standard reply today says may take up 8 weeks will see what happens. Also I sent a reply from FOS,letters sent to halifax (before I knew about this PPI business all dated 2007!!I had filed a complaint re PPI but didnt follow it up i also added all this to the reclaim ...not sure whether that would help or not0

out of the blue Egg wrote to me asking about PPI that was put on my account when i opened it.
i called them and told them that it was added without my consent or knowledge (i think it was 2004) and i had since cancelled it for that reason.
i didn't think i would be owed anything but today received a cheque for £270.94
thank you Egg - i normally have bad things to say about Egg but they have redeemed themselves this time
i am wondering why they didnt simply knock it off my balance as i still owe over £2k but still - better in my pocket0 -

Hi
Yes its 8 full weeks they have to respond, if you've not heard anything you should be then eligible to continue to go to the FOS on this.
I wish you luck through this and do not worry, you have done everything okay here. X;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi there and very well done.:T  :j .
Right, for example if this is still active and your still paying for the loan, you should receive all you have paid in PPI plus interest, if this is settled, they you get back every penny in ppi plus interest.
If you have any form of calculations, you can ask Turbo to work them out for you over at the reclaiming discussion thread, if you've no calcs, request a copy from the company.;)
Good one.:T  XThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi, this is my first post but I thought Id share my success with you! I read about being missold on this website just after christmas and decided to take action on my own loan with Egg (taken out May 2005) I checked my original credit agreement and it turns out my PPI was £2240 (on a £7k loan) and all I'd been paying fo the last 3 1/2 yrs was infact that. My loan amount had hardly been touched.
I wrote to them asking for a full refund plus interest at 8%. Today (nearly exactly 8 weeks later) I have had a letter to say £2240 & £800 interest has been taken off my loan, leaving me with a balance of £4k. My monthly payments have also been halved.
Obviously I would have liked to have paid the loan off earlier by continuing my regular payment but nevertheless I am still extremely pleased with the result (I also have baby on way and extra cash will come in handy).
Just wanted to say thanks! If I hadnt have stumbled by this website
I would be none the wiser, and £3k worse off :-)
Now to take on Natwest ....... ;-)

Took out loan of 9000 5years ago and have just reclaimed ppi. Used information and copy of letter on your web site and have had a confirmation letter today of an offer of £2264.83.
The company was Alliance & Leicester and the reasons for claim
This is due to the fact that your member of staff did not ask me about any previous medical conditions when the policy was sold.
This is due to the fact that you have been fined by the FSA for failing to treat your customers fairly when selling Payment Protection Insurance and I do not believe that my policy was sold in my best interests.
It was so easy i used the 1st letter and did not even need to cotact The Financial Ombudsmen Service.
Thanks to Martin's money tips we will be £2264.83p richer and only 2 payments left on loan.
