  • :beer:Sent Martins letter to Alliance and Leicester two weeks ago, had the standard reply last Friday, and today got a letter offering all the PPI back and 8% (£1,300). The letter took me 7/8 minutes to complete and cost 76p to send by registered post. I am over the moon!! Been ill and unable to work much for the last year, but the kids still need feeding!!

 I appeared with martin on the TONIGHT programme(in london),back in oct/07.i took a loan out with a certain blue talking telephone, which was advertised on tv.we applied, twice on line and were refused twice.so i rang up and asked why,did i do it wrong?was it a computer error?.the woman on the phone did'nt ask my name, address or post code, all she asked was "did you include the ppi".i said no 'cause i was already insured.but she replied "sorry but this company won't give you the loan without it".so i took the loan.then GOD appeared on the TONIGHT programme, about it.i emailed, got a reply and went to london.
now this is the best bit.i wrote to RBS,about this,(they bought out that company just after we took the loan out)they said no,did it again and they said the same thing,no.so sent it off to the FINANCIAL OMBUDSMAN,who took this up for us.on 03/12/08,we received a letter off them saying SUCCESS :j .They said RBS has decided to give it to us "as a goodwill gesture".we sent the letter back to F.O.saying we accepted the gesture,BUT,we're still waiting!!!!!!.have emailed the F.O. now we're awaiting a reply off them,to tell us whats going on.

hi everyone, just wanted to run something by you, i have 2 loans with northern rock, i put a claim in for mis selling and recieved a letter stating i wasnt mis sold as i did it on the internet and i should have read all the agreements they sent out !!!! i telephoned them when i recieved the first loan agreement with ppi on (3 years ago) saying i did not want to take the ppi and the young guy i spoke to said but what if you are made redundant, have a nasty accident or get a terminal illness? i thought oh my god yes so i left that loan as it was. the second loan, i have the agreement, PPI BOX NOT TICKED !!! when i recieved this agreement i phoned nr to say i did not tick the ppi box but i have it included in the loan, the young lady i spoke to said when you send the loan agreement in it will be changed, so dont worry, thought thats great !untill they took the first loan paymentWITH PPI PAYMENT i phoned back and was told i could cancell the ppi and re do the loan but it will be X pounds as we cannot offer you the same interest rate, so i had no option but to leave it ,if thats not mis selling i dont know what is!(complaint straight to fos yesterday , they wont mess with me) but nr said that they would reschedule the loans put them together and it would be over 10 years!! now the first loan was over 7 years (i have paid 3 years on this) so have 4 left. the second loan was 5 years ( and i have paid 2years on this) no mention of the settlement figures or the interest paid to date ,(have phoned northern rock and requested this info) so why should i have to pay 10 years for a product i have allready paid for three years that finishes in 2 years. i think we are being taken for fools again ,they will have had more than the ppi back on the extra years interest they are charging me (they offered the same 6,4% i had originally) any one else think the same? will keep you updated if i hear anything ,thanks for reading this and hope you have not fallen asleep LOL

Hi amersall and no, not fallen asleep lol....:D ;) .
Great write up here and very interesting, okay what they done was very naughty here, and I wish you well with this case.

Just a thought, wonder if you have 2 separate complaints here, one about the mis selling and the other about the way they have treated you with this, like you said, "why 10 years"??? its like starting all over again and more, its so unfair, we all just want to clear our debts as much as possible, and the way they have done this has pushed on more years on your loan, this is just not on.

I would ask for inconvience compensation as well if that were me, being put in this situation is so unfair.

You could always see what the FOS say about this, but tell them you want more than your PPI back, the way they have treated you is just not on, so unfair.

Good luck and hope you get a good income out of this.:A ;) X

cheers di thanks for that, passed it on to fos and have stated about the increase of the loan term, will see what they say, this will obviously not put me back to the position the loan was in before ppi was added will it so i must surely have a case there. once again you have come up trumps:A will keep you posted xxx

Thanks amersall, and fingers crossed, I think this will be resolved with the FOS myself, but when they are finally dealing with it (when its being dealt with by the adjudicator) you are still able to send them further information if you need to.
I would defo ask for extra compo though in your case, for the distress and inconvenience they have caused you.;)
    Good luck with this.:A XXXX
