PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi
I am in complete shock!
Back in July, I received a cold call about PPI settlements and felt a bit uncomfortable because they seemed to know too much about my finances... I told them I wasn't interested and I contacted my bank (NatWest) because I was concerned my account information had been shared. I spoke to their fraud team and they assured me it wasn't the case but suggested I should speak to their PPI team at RBS to discuss my PPI history on my loans.
Now, I've never been too great with my finances. I've never gone into the red in my account but fallen into the trap of refinancing my personal loan with Natwest. I spoke to the PPI team at RBS, had no loan information and just wanted to discuss the possibility that I had been mis-sold although I said to them I wasn't sure it was the case.
To cut a long story short, the guy took my bank details (no other history - not even loan numbers) and said they'd look into it. I thought nothing more about it other than when I got a letter confirming my PPI complaint (I didn't even register it as a complaint but I guess it got sucked into the process).
Then last week, I got an offer letter from them for two loans totalling approx £1250. Wow, I thought, that's great. I signed the acceptance forms and sent them off.
I got home yesterday and found a whopping great envelope on my doormat. Inside was a raft of offer letters for all my loans up to a couple of years ago when they stopped selling PPI. In total my refunds add up to £18,000!! I nearly fainted. Naturally I have signed the forms and sent them off.
They said payment within 28 days.... not sure how good Natwest is with this (anybody know?).
In some respect, it just shows how long I have been stuck in the loan refinance mode... I'm going to use the majority of the payment to pay a sizeable chunk of my outstanding loan and maybe have a couple of treats.
I just to share my experience!

Exactly the same story with me. Several loans consolidated over the years and have been offered over £22,000. Acceptance letter posted 27 Aug which said money would be mine within 28 WORKING days. They received my acceptance letter on 5th Sept. Then got a letter saying it would be a further four weeks. November 12th today and still no sign of money. You have done well so far if you only claimed in July this year but my claim has been in since August LAST year and am still waiting. Would be nice before Christmas but I am not holding my breath. Good luck.
Congraulations to everyone who has actually received money from whichever bank they are with. Enjoy.0 -

I sent back my acceptance of offer form in August and have still not had a response!! I called them today and they said that they had no timeline for offer payments as they are awaiting the calculations from the calculations team and they have a huge back log etc etc etc.
Many thanks
Donna

In this time my case was reviewed by an Adjudicator who found against my claim.
I appealed against this decision- in my opinion the Adjudicator has been VERY subjective in reaching his decision!
After being reviewed by an Ombudsman- I received a letter at the end of August informing me that RBS had agreed to offer me a 'no admission of guilt' repayment of monies in line with guidelines.
I have received a repayment of just under £9000!
I would urge everyone to keep going on your complaint-its so simple.
I wrote my letter in line with template off this site and have received ALL the money into my account without having to pay a hefty % to any other company.
Am very pleased.
Thanks you give me some hope, my first part of my Firstplus loan was done through a broker called central trust this has been with the FOS for five months now and apart from a letter from them saying cases are taking over a year, you feel like you are waiting forever.

I woke up to a welcome letter from HSBC this morning. Sent them the questionnaire in August for a loan I took out in April 2000, for £6000, still had paperwork (hoarding is good in this case I think!) first letter acknowledging claim on August 25th, offer letter today for £1831!! Woop woop.
Spent last weekend helping my self employed sister send hers off fingers crossed some of my luck passes to her!
Be brave. Even if you're not, pretend to be. No one can tell the difference.

Hi all,
Today i recieved a letter from British Credit Trust saying they are not upholding my claim.
They list varying points in the letter that i do not agree to. They say this is their final response and if i am not happy with their decision i need to go through the FOS.
Is it worth me writing to BCT disputing what they say in the letter and asking them to look at my claim again, or should i just go straight to the FOS.

P.S i told them i was a student nurse, surely the ppi would have been useless to me at the time.0 -
