Cant quite understand what the difference is between say finishing a loan early and they pay the interest up to now, and cancelling the PPI on a credit card early. I know I am be rather thick but dont really know too much about all this as new to it all. As I have put claims in on 3 credit cards just want to understand it better. We did have a claim upheld with Barclays for a loan which we early settled in 2002, which they paid interest @ 8% to date so just assumed this was the same.
Someone who knows how this works will help i am sure, this 8% should be to date, you are right here, but with the credit balance they may have included this to date.
Sorry if i confused you :)now i am more confused0 -
Would there be any point in trying to get them to reduce the amount they are paying off the arrears. We are pleased that they have upheld the claim, and would have liked some of the money to have gone off the c/c but not really that much as we are on an agreed repayment programme that we are keeping to.0

hi everyone ..... have been a regular observer here and wondered if anyone can help with an offer recieved from black horse.
it basically says complaint upheld , then says offering pro rata payment , this is 1 of 5 claims i have sent to blackhorse, there is also a form of acceptance to sign .... is this what everyone gets? im unsure what to do.
thanks in advance mandy
if i can just give a few segments of the letter i recieved
I am writing in relation to your complaint regarding ppi policy, i have now completed an investigation into your complaint and as a result i have decided to uphold your complaint on the following basis
as part of an initial review of our records i was able to identify the ppi policy you complained about was associated with a loan which was a part of a chain of 2 loans with us where these loans were settled early and refinanced by a subsequent loan.
as a result of this review i am satisfied that the only issue that arose with the sale of ppi attached to your loan was that when the single premium policy was cancelled early you would have incurred additional costs at the time you closed the account. this is because you did not recieve a pro rata refund because of the way we calculate the settlement of the ppi policy, in addition you did not recieve a pro rata refund, so borrowing for subsequent loans would be higher than needed to be, this in turn increased the size and monthly payments and in doing so attracted additional interest.
Our Offer
i have decided that , you should be reimbursed the difference between a pro rata refund and the ammount you actually paid for each single premium policy settled early, i have also considered {and included} the additional ammounts paid due to your refinanced loans being greater than what you would have required and the interest applicable to this
we now offer a refund of this excess amount , plus simple interest at 8% per annum..............Phewwww
so im not sure what to do, ......is this how it works?, to be honest its something i wouldent have given a second thought about without Martyn bringing it to everyones attention
sorry its a long post0 -
mum2oliver wrote: »Hi I am new to this website but have found it to be an invaluable source of knowledge in helping me to do my own PPI reclaims. I have had success with Sainsbury's whom I had 3 loans with, they have upheld the claim on the last loan but I have not had a figure back yet even though I sent the acceptance letter in August!! They also did not take into account the 2 previous loans I had with them but I called them today and they said all 3 loans were ready to be calculated but they just had a backlog, so fingers crossed I should hear soon.
My main concern is Barclaycard, I received a letter from them to say"Our sales process used at the time of sale required our staff to state that the policy was optional and we can find no reason to suggest that optionality was not discussed with you. This would also have been disclosed in the pre and post sales literature which was sent to you."
To be honest I cannot remember how I originally applied for my Barclaycard as it was 20 years ago, but I am sure I never spoke to anyone about it and would of applied if anything by form. It says that I can take it to the FOS. I have seen many people on here have success with Barclaycard and was wondering if I should write back to them or go to FOS but am at a loss as to what to reply. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
Please could someone advise re: Barclaycard, I know I am new to this but any help given would be very much appreciated.
WTG to all those success over night too :j:j:beer::T:T0 -
