My 3rd claim with MBA has been upheld thats 3 totalling £20k now (1 x CC, 2 X loans)

the CEO there Ian Doherty is very good, emailed him and he gets within a day with the breakdown, if only Lloyd's were as good !

Question though can anyone help - How do i tell the taxman about the 8% interest (does he get it all or just a portion of it), but if someone could tell me who ro write to or website i would be most grateful

    thanks
Write to the same tax office that deals with your PAYE tax assuming you are employed. Otherwise, you will have to include it in your tax return assuming you are self employed.

    GOOD NEWS!!!

I just received a call from LloydsTSB admin department. They have heard my complaint and are happy to pay it sooner than they otherwise would have. They gave me a preliminary date of 23rd of November but will call me back shortly as there is a possibility that they can pay it BACS into my account today!

They also said that the time frame I was given (August complainants paid in November) is now shorter as they have cleared the lion share of the backlog. It's all down hill from here :)

Well done welshneo :T glad you never stopped your DD :D

  • Hi. I wondered if anyone was able to give me some advise. We were advised by letter from Tesco on 25th Oct, that our claim was upheld, and that they would be refunding PPI insurance premiums from November 2003 to when we cancelled the PPI approx 2006, along with interest on those payments. The figures were £2024.54 PPI premium, £709.98 Int at credit card int rate, and £765.67 int at 8%., total £3500.19.
I was under the impression from reading cases on this site that the 8% interest had to be paid up to todays date, and NOT up to when the PPI was removed. I thought that was interest on the premiums paid for the full length of time that we have not had this money.
I sent a letter stated this and questioning the fact that they wanted to put the funds to the card as it is currently in arrears, as as we are on a repayment programme that we are keeping to did not know if they could apply the full refund to the card. I thought I had also read somewhere that they have to put you back to the same position you were before you took out the PPI.
My husband recd a tel call today, advising that they would be paying £2851.32 off the credit card which is the arrears and we would receive £648.66. There was no mention of the 8% interest. My husband was at work and could not really talk, and so advised that he would call back tomorrow.
Any help or advise before this would be appreciated.

Hi there, the 2851.32+648.66 is the redress that they are paying you, this includes the 8%.
As you were in arrears, they can take these off the redress and give you the remainder, that is what they have done.
A credit card 8% is not the same as a loan, your account will have been reworked and any credit balance will not attract the 8%,as the ppi was cancelled in 2006 you would not have paid ppi to the date of your redress and will not get the 8% as this is paid to the date of cancellation.
