We were advised by letter from Tesco on 25th Oct, that our claim was upheld, and that they would be refunding PPI insurance premiums from November 2003 to when we cancelled the PPI approx 2006, along with interest on those payments. The figures were £2024.54 PPI premium, £709.98 Int at credit card int rate, and £765.67 int at 8%., total £3500.19.
I was under the impression from reading cases on this site that the 8% interest had to be paid up to todays date, and NOT up to when the PPI was removed. I thought that was interest on the premiums paid for the full length of time that we have not had this money.
I sent a letter stated this and questioning the fact that they wanted to put the funds to the card as it is currently in arrears, as as we are on a repayment programme that we are keeping to did not know if they could apply the full refund to the card. I thought I had also read somewhere that they have to put you back to the same position you were before you took out the PPI.
My husband recd a tel call today, advising that they would be paying £2851.32 off the credit card which is the arrears and we would receive £648.66. There was no mention of the 8% interest. My husband was at work and could not really talk, and so advised that he would call back tomorrow.
Any help or advise before this would be appreciated.
Hi there
Well done on your success!
I understand the calculating of credit card ppi works differently to that of a loan credit card and hopefully someone will be along soon to explain in more detail, meanwhile check on how the FOS calculates refunds below link, when a business uphold a complaint they should follow the same guidelines as the FOS, on how they calculate PPI refunds, hope it helps.

Hello First Plus claimers. Must have been a busy day for them today as my husband rang them too. Was told my cheques would be with us by 14 Dec (8 weeks) at the latest. Never mentioned any backlog they are having.
Nutty Nat, Digitaltrance, spaniellover - Heres hoping you wont have to wait too long. I think they have a delay but dont want to say. Surely it doesnt take that long to issue cheques. When should we be starting to add interest on these extra days????
Well done to all the others that have received offers/cheques

I checked balance before making out paying in slip and to my surprise the final 2 payments from LLoyds had hit my account before the date I was expecting them. In total LLoyds have paid back over £13,000 for payment protection for loans I have had from them. 3 of them were for loans I had back in 1990's which they automatically assessed themselves without me asking.
That is a lovely surprise! WOW, :T Well done and Congratulations!:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi all
received a letter from barclays today, upholding my complaint...yippeee!!
they sent me an estimate which seemed a lot more than i was expecting, almost 11k!! ( i worked it out to be around £3500!!!) after ringing them today they said that figure is only an estimate and they will still need to take into account any early payments made etc!
although i am so so over the moon that they have upheld my complaint, and i am just so happy with any refund, but i would rather they just sent a letter without an estimate and sent me the actual figure! as its left me brain dead sitting here with a calculator for hours trying to work this out!! lol
this has made my day though, and will update you once i have been made aware of the actual figure lol.
well done everyone else for today too.0 -
I've posted on the LTSB thread, but thought I'd put it on here too. My cash has appeared in my unused current account this morning, despite them saying it would be by cheque.
Offer letter was 2nd September.
There is hope after all. Thanks everyone.0 -

Hi di. Thankyou so much for advise. Have looked at guidelines and is a bit clearer now. Husband calling them today will advise how we get on. Thanks again0 -
Hi all, we've had a letter back from fos today saying they aren't upholding our mbna claim for charges. They're saying because they are charges earlier than 2006 we should have claimed before now! Thing is, if we knew then that they were unlawful we would have!! It's only after using this site we knew we had the right to complain! So frustrated! Is there anything else we can do? Please can someone help?0

Yes! I was told those who accepted offers in August are only just being paid now! I will post here every step of the way! Goodluck!0
