PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hey guys, would appreciate your help on this one. Had a ppi claim rejected the other day for a loan, taken out in 1999 and settled a year later. In short was rejected because paperwork was destroyed after six years, so HFC have no record of any ppi sale. When I sent them ppi questionnaire in September also attached some papers I found which were, confirmation of loan with 'credit protection insurance' and my last statement, showing monthly loan amount. Nothing specific about the sale but definitely that ppi was on loan.
Not sure what my next move should be. Try and get HFC to reconsider or straight to FOS?
Hi
Maybe give it one more shot, and anything you do have send in copies.
As you may be aware they supposed to hold data at least the last 6 years, when did you complete/settle the loan, what year?
However, some will hold data going back all the way, so have you taken a chance on requesting a Subject access Request (SAR)?
They MUST comply to this (DPA) Data Protection Act by 40 calendar days, you enclose the one off payment of £10 cheque or postal order, below there is a template letter, if they're unable to provide anything they must confirm this in writing and return your payment.

Maybe worth checking what comes back and take it from there, but you are free otherwise to complain to the FOS which you must do by 6 months of the date of the final letter decision.
Or otherwise give it another go once you receive any data from the account via the SAR, hope this helps and the best of luck x:)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Evening all,
After being successful with two credit card ppi claims, it seems that nothing seems to have changed with my balance. Surely it should reflect the removal of the ppi or am I being thick.0 -

Hi Everyone!
I put in a claim with Barclays for PPI in September. Within a couple of days I received a letter stating they were very busy but I would hear from them in November.
Tuesday last week I had a call from a company doing a survey for Barlcays in relation to the reclaim process. I mostly said I was satisfied with how it was being dealt with so far and I was still a happy Barclays customer.
3 days later I received a letter from Barclays saying the accepted I was mis-sold the PPI and offered me a figure of £2,300! That was a little more than I expected.
They said it would be paid to me within 40 days so just waiting for it to hit my account now. It was a very easy process thanks to the MSE forums and template letters (I only ever needed to send one).
Thanks so much!!!0 -

Maybe it was an insider who did the survey and because Milly was a happy customer .......:rotfl:

Hi
Yes it is in my opinion, and whenever I have been told this, I tell them, its not the point, the point is the PPI would not cover/protect me in full and paying full PPI is waste of time and worthless to me.
Keep at them x;)
Hi
Thanks for your reply
And do you find this usually works? Have you turned around rejections and was it through another letter or a complaint to the FOS.
Thanks

Hi all, Not been around on the forum for a while (been busy spending our last payout!) Can anyone help please? Should a SAR contain copies of loan/ credit card application forms? We have had a load of 'bumph' from Nat West, and they say that we didn't have PPI, but we were sure we did. These loans were taken out quite a while ago (about 10 years) and have since been settled. We have no paperwork at home and were hoping that they would send copies of these applications so that we could check for ourselves.
Many thanks

I would just like to say , after reading the most amount of blogs I have every read. I decided to go through with the chase of Mbna for PPI on a credit card that I have. Well after filling in forms and adjusting letters I am now in a position to state that I have won.
The time line for this scuces has been pretty quick. I wrote to them on the 10th of Ocotober 2011 and today got a letter back saying that my complaint has been up held. So £14.5k has been agreed and I am awaiting the cheque.
I now have the desire to go after the other 3 accounts with diffrent vendors!!!
