PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi,
I am hoping to reclaim PPI on my mortgage. Has anyone had any success with this?
I am looking to reclaim the last 12 years (albeit all with different lenders). Can I do this or is it restricted to the last 6 years?0 -
Hello all.
This is my first post as I have had no need to seek advice before. Being able to follow people's own stories has been helpful though so thanks to all.
Now though I'm sat on the fence with regards an offer from the Halifax regarding my mortgage PPI. The upshot is they have offered me and the wife £11.5k. However, this is made up of 3 elements. Life cover, critical illness cover and MRC (unemployment cover). I have been told I can cancel or keep certain elements if I do or don't accept the offer. In the case of MRC this equates to £5k of the offer. Part of me wants to not claim this back as it could be useful should the unfortunate happen and I was to be left unemployed and you can't get this cover anymore. The other part of me wants the money back to do with as I please.
I'd be very interested to hear if anyone else is in this dilemma or what others may think. I'm open to all suggestions.
Also, as someone with a mortgage, what sort of cover is best as I will have to take out new policies for the ones I claim on.
Thanks peeps.
Might as well add that I also have some old paid off loans and CCs claims still in calulations.
Claimed in May 2011
Acceptance forms received by Halifax 2nd September
Still no offers after 60+ days0 -

PPI Success!
I complained about PPI on a personal loan I had with Halifax. I completed the questionnaire and sent it at end of August 2011. Response was received within a week to say it would be looked at. Received a letter earlier this week to confirm they are refunding everything. Called today and Halifax confirmed a cheque for £5000 is on it's way to me.
Thanks for all the help and good luck to everyone else.0 -
Look here
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank-charges#step2
On the bank charge calculator, put the monthly ppi payment made, the year and the month for the time this was paid.this will keep a running total of ppi and 8% you get back.
Thanks but I think there's a bit of a misunderstanding here. The repayments should have been £216.88 a month, with £32.16 in ppi. If my sister has paid £300 a month, that's just over £50 excess. So my question is, if she does this for twelve months (which she did in 2009) that would total £600 in overpayments. Therefore, would an additional 8% of that £600 be added to it and count towards paying off the total outstanding amount, or would it just remain at £600?

Success today, woop woop!!
I got a letter today from MBNA saying a cheque for £363 will be sent too me within 28 days.
Thought I would have got more (greedy or what lol) but they say this is their final response in relation too this matter and I have the right to complain to the Financial Ombudsman.
Don't think I'll bother and it'll be a nice help for Xmas
