    Good Morning all
Thought I would share some good news for Friday.

My 2 MBNA claims that have been in since Jan 2011 have finally today been settled. It has taken numerous emails over the last month but I have had an email today to confirm that £9637.42 will be sent via CHAPS today to my account. Despite initial problems with MBNA I had contact with a really helpful gentleman (LYNK thankyou for the email address) that I will be emailing the CEO to pass on my Thanks as if it wasn't for this individual who knows how long I would have waited.

So with my RBS I now have reclaimed £12631 and for the first time in 20 years I am other than my mortgage debtfree yeah!!!!!
Thankyou to everyone on these pages for their invaluable help

Well I phoned Lloyds yesterday and was told they had sent three letters out and that the claim wasn't being upheld. Asked for the letter to be sent again and surprise surprise it arrived this morning. It basically says "As a result of this review, I am satisfied that there were no issues with the sale of PPI attached to you personal loans". What should I do now. Any advice please.

Contact the Financial omnibusman and they will investigate your claim again for you. You will need to send the original claim form and any correspondance you have received. Good Luck :)
  • Hi everyone,

I have been keeping track of this forum for a while now and thought I would share my first PPI reclaim success.

I have received an offer of £1411.33 for an old Amazon credit card. This is more than I expected as I only had the card for a couple of years.

Thanks for all the help and advice :)

My Egg Loan complaint has been with the FOS for over a year now.

Got a letter this morning that my complaint has been upheld :T

However, the adjudicator goes on to say that "Egg would like to make an offer as a gesture of goodwill with no admission of liability" and that "Egg will be writing to you to explain the precise terms of its proposed settlement, however it has told us that it will be based on the general approach that the FOS takes when we decide that a consumer has been mis-sold a PPI policy".

The FOS have not provided me with any figures. I have never escalated a claim therefore do I wait for Egg to write to me (and how much time do I give them to respond?).

They have been by far the worst to deal with.

I don't want to get too excited until I see the cheque!

    Hi,
I am looking for more help please,
Got a letter in this morning saying they are unable to uphold my complaint:-
After considering the information and documentation available to us...I can assure you that that I have fully investigated the sale of PPI using any relevant documentation held by us.

As part of my review I have considered whether you were eligible for the policy, if it was suitable for you in relation to PPI policy when you took it out. I have also taken account the concerns you raised in your complaint as a whole to ensure we acted fairly, taking into account any other relevant circumstances or information that may be available.
As a result I am satisfied that that there were no issues with the sale of the PPI attached to your credit card.

I requested SAR and the only documentation that they have from then (1996 when card opened) is the application form, no terms and conditions. So I presume they are basing decision on the application form.
This was filled in by a bank employee, Handwriting not mine, however the box is ticked, not by me I may add.
The signature box was on another page which I have obviously signed. I was filling in documentation for mortgage at time and got credit card as part of that deal (was guaranteed for mortgage customers)So filled in a few forms that day.
I was on rolling temporary contracts at the time, employer had to write a letter stating how long I had worked there etc for mortgage purposes - they accepted this.
My complaint was I didn't ask for it, nor wanted it.
I don't recall ever getting asked about PPI, I never asked for it, the limit on the card started of at £1000 and was very rarely used, latterly 7 years later, I used it and it was at its max.
I got into financial difficulties and had trouble paying the minimum payment, it is not until I phoned in 2008 with regard to payments, the advisor made me aware that I had this insurance and should cancel it, as was paying aound £50 to it.
I know that I must appear stupid, as this was on my statements, I thought it was compulsary.
If I had known it was optional, then I would have cancelled it years ago, because I was really struggling and this was adding £50 to my mimimum payment.
The complaint has been left opened at present I have the option to phone and redress some of the issues that have been raised.
Do you think I should follow this up, do I have a case, the PPI was added without me asking for it?

    Can anyone help, please.

this is pretty much a standard letter they are sending out to people its the same template as RBS used, we got the same one in July, give them a ring and say how am I supposed to accept the offer when you havent given me any flipping numbers!!!... we didnt and the assumed we had accepted the offer, its all sorted now but its like wading through flipping treacle, claim submitted Sept 2010, and still waiting for payment...... I would have held my breath but I would have suffocated !! LOL:mad:

I would ring them and discuss it with them and if you arent happy with their response take it to the ombudsman.
I was always told that I had to have PPi or wouldnt get the loan/credit card but as you were doing yours with your mortgage this may not be the case.
unfortunately as you signed the contract with the box ticked they may get away with it!
BUT I would tell them about you seeing it on statements and thinking it was compulsory and see if they can get the recording of your phonecall in 2008 as this will show that you didnt know what it was or that you had it and didnt have to pay it!

    hope you have some luck!
