PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi, a newbie here. Just wondering if anyone can advise me on claiming for a credit card as I've had the card over twenty years and have no idea how i applied for it. Just can't remember if it was by post or at the bank. I only realised I had PPI from coming on this site. Also I sent off my details for my bank loans about April and have had one letter of acknowledgment dated 30th June and nothing else. From reading some of these posts i realise some people have been waiting a long time for their payouts but should I have received a letter of some sorts by now. Any advice gratefully received.0

Hi everyone,
An encouraging tale for anyone thinking of reclaiming PPI:
I recently reclaimed the PPI on a £7000 loan I took out in 2008 with Alliance and Leicester. Having read Martin's article, I filled out the Financial Ombudsman form, sent it off to Santander (which has since bought A&L). They cancelled my PPI policy immediatelty and paid me back all of my contributions to date (£2500).
My complaint was that, at the time of sale, I had been told over the phone that the approval for the loan depended on me taking the insurance. A&L were fined by the FSA for this form of misselling during the period that I took my loan out. So, not a leg to stand on!
One final note is that A&L had actually written to me previously about possible misselling as a result of the FSA's judgement. In that letter they gave me a short window of opportunity to make a complaint, giving the illusion that I wouldn't be able to claim after that window. Well I claimed three years later and it was all fine.
Good luck to everyone else!
Cheers,
