I sent claim form off beginning of september 2011, logged on there system 6/9/11.

offer of over £2800 recieved on 13/10/11.
posted back acceotance slip recorded delivery same day.

Hsbc signed for letter on 14/10/11.

Got home from work yesterday to find the money has credited to my account 17/10/11.:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j.

The speed of my claim may have something to do with the fact that i emailed the ceo of HSBC at every stage.

My claim took approx 6 weeks

Hi all i'm new to the site but thought I should join up and tell you about my story :T

What were you reclaiming: (eg. loan, credit card, store card)
Who was the provider: (e.g. Capital One, NatWest)
How much did you get back: ????
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: ????
And then write your brief reclaim tale

I took out a loan in 2007 with Lloyds tsb.. I printed out the template letter from this website, to be honest I didnt think I would get the money back. When I took the loan out I was 22 years old and had got myself into a bit of a mess with credit cards (which ive learnt the hard way) so decided to take out a loan to pay off everything I owed consolidating etc. I had a loan from 2005 which was coming to the end so refinanced in 2007. Anyway when I took the refinanced loan out I was told more or less I had to take the ppi out. When I came out to filling in the template letter on this site, I had kept all the loan details and ppi details, well when reading the small print it stated in this letter that I had told them I had an ongoing health condition (which I haven't).
so I wrote everything down that I could think of which would help my reclaim...
within a week of sending the letter (June 13th 2011) I had a letter to say it would take up to 16 weeks to sort out..time went on and I received a letter on the 28th september (written on the 22nd of september) to say they are offering me a refund of

    £5460.56 :j

Im very happy with this offer but I have a few questions

It states in the letter that the personal loan service will send me a statement which will show me the payment that they have made to my loan account and will confirm the outstanding balance on my loan and this takes up to 21 days..

it goes on to say they will now make arrangements for this payment to be made which will be in the form of a cheque, and that if im happy with the details and amount of the offer then I don't need to do anything.

    so my question is

Iv'e been reading some previous posts about how people have sent off letters of acceptance. Do I have to do this??? as i'm happy with the offer but the letter says I don't have to do anything..
Also, with the money I have won I want to pay off the rest of my loan which has about 6 months left on it..will lloyds automatically do this (even though I haven't asked them to) or will they Just send me a cheque with the £5,460.56?

Its been nearly a month since they sent the letter and ive still not received my cheque or a statement on my loan account?

sorry this is a long post but a bit unsure of what to do next?
    Is anyone else having problems

(well done to everyone that's managed to get success with there ppi complaints)
  • Wooohoooooo I have just had another upheld by Barclays for a £2,000 loan in 1998. I should be getting back £666:j but this may alter as they are checking if I had a refund when I refinanced. I didn't tink I had PPI, but claimed on the off chance and am so glad I did!

I didn't have a copy of the agreement but asked my bank for copy statements for the years I knew I had loans. From the statements I found the agreement numbers and then made the claims myself.

I would like to thank Di3004 you are angel:A, thanks to your help with an email to the MBNA ceo, they have decided to uphold my complaint after giving me a refusal which was a final response.:D

So, to those of you who have been given a final response (mine was because of a ticked box) challenge it and argue your case, they could change their mind like they did with me!!!

    Good Luck:)
    Mortgage Feb 2015 £178,500 END 2043!!

Watch this space, my MF end date will tumble!!
  • Does anyone else feel like Lloyds/Halifax are skint and can't afford to give us any money back?

So many people been given calculations, so many still waiting for that ever elusive cheque:mad:

    Hi
I have repeatedly phoned Lloyds TSB but all I get is that they have sent me the calculations on my five loans on the 20 SEPTEMBER, these have never arrived, I have e-mailed the CEO but I was told they could give me no information about my claim because of data protection laws, I feel I am banging my head against a brick wall and even though I need this money back urgently I will never get it back, Lloyds are NOT paying the money they owe us they need it for their bonus payments for the FAT CAT BOSSES!!!!!:(:(:(
  • Nat West tell me that the offer they have made is is a total Refund of PPI Premium and associated interest paid to date (see figures below) I am having a job getting my head around the figures and cant see how the total up front sum added to my loan is larger that their total refund including interest and tax deduction.

I really need a members help with the right knowledge on PPI to say its ok or all wrong!!!

If I accept the offer it does not seem to get me back to a position where I would have been had I they not included the PPI sum - Need urgent help!!

  • Should have added that the loan was running for 13 months when I negotiated another to which PPI was NOT added and to the best of my knowledge I received no refund on the PPI Premium.

But even though it ran for 13 months they are telling me its a full refund.

  • Thought I might share this with you, I wrote to Cap 1 after discovering that I was paying PPI, I cannot claim on this insurance as if sick I receive full pay etc. I emailed them and got the following response, in fairness it was within 24hrs, the response is....

"I can confirm that this insurance was sold over the phone on 11 November 2005 when you contacted to activate your card.

Since we added the payment protection insurance to your account, we've sent you several statements. On your statement, we tell you how much payment protection insurance we're adding that month. The amount of insurance that you pay will depend upon your balance during that month.

Because of this, I can't refund any of the premiums that we've charged to your account.

Please note that the insurance is still active and if you wish to cancel this, please let us know.

If you've any other queries, please send us a further secure message.

I have replied to them, and explained that I am not happy with their response, perhaps in a slightly sarcastic way I have added that, no I don't want the insurance to continue!!!!!
I won't give up with this claim, but couldn't help chuckling to myself when reading the response, if its on the statement they can't refund the premiums and then if I don't want it I need to let them know.....Funny or what? and they get paid to do this :rotfl:

Have received a reply today stating they are sending my complaint to their complaints department, mmm, interesting how yesterday they couldn't help me!!
    Let the games begin.......
IF HIND SIGHT WAS FORESIGHT WOULD I STILL NEED TO GO TO THE OPTICIANS???

I received two credits in to my bank account today.
And I have now realised they are NOT paying in date order.

The reason I know this is because I have got two out of three of my payments due.
Funny though, I received one which was from an acceptance dated 21/09 and one from an acceptance dated 06/10.
So what has happened to date order, and my 2nd payment attached to the acceptance letter dated 21/09??
Plus one of the payments is short.
I have no idea what they are playing at.
