Hi all,
Got sold PPI by Barclaycard when I became self employed in 1996. Last Aug. saw Martin on the box and found out it was not applicable to me so I stopped it and complained. got a claims form, filled it in returned it and have just recieved £34,090:00. (Estimated premiums, they only have records going back 6 years, mine go back 10. + interest, card rates. +8% PA) long wait but worth it.
WOW!!! well done!! :money::money:xx0 -
Thought I might share this with you, I wrote to Cap 1 after discovering that I was paying PPI, I cannot claim on this insurance as if sick I receive full pay etc. I emailed them and got the following response, in fairness it was within 24hrs, the response is....
"I can confirm that this insurance was sold over the phone on 11 November 2005 when you contacted to activate your card.
Since we added the payment protection insurance to your account, we've sent you several statements. On your statement, we tell you how much payment protection insurance we're adding that month. The amount of insurance that you pay will depend upon your balance during that month.
Because of this, I can't refund any of the premiums that we've charged to your account.
Please note that the insurance is still active and if you wish to cancel this, please let us know.
If you've any other queries, please send us a further secure message.
I have replied to them, and explained that I am not happy with their response, perhaps in a slightly sarcastic way I have added that, no I don't want the insurance to continue!!!!!
I won't give up with this claim, but couldn't help chuckling to myself when reading the response, if its on the statement they can't refund the premiums and then if I don't want it I need to let them know.....Funny or what? and they get paid to do this :rotfl:IF HIND SIGHT WAS FORESIGHT WOULD I STILL NEED TO GO TO THE OPTICIANS???0 -

Hi there......I'm afraid I need some advice on two items:
1. Ulster Bank PPI reclaim - started the reclaim process in Jan/Feb of this year......heard very little from them except a holding letter in March/April. Following your advice I emailed Stephen Hester (RBS) 6 weeks ago and made a complaint. I got the standard reply from them, but thats 6 weeks ago now, and I havent heard a dickey bird. My reclaim is quite large. Any advice on what I should do next.....at what point can I get additional help (FOS)???
2. Following advice from this website I contacted EGG; I had an EGG CC back in 2004, and paid it off in 2007. I used the standard letter to ask them for a copy of the agreement, but unfort I have since lost my account number. They sent me a reply saying they could do nothing without an account number.....any way around this????
MANY THANKS................and any help received is VERY much appreciated!!!0 -

Hi there
In regards of the first question, they should have given you the option of the FOS.
I would ask your local MP to chase this up for you, as they've had ample time to deal with this one.
There is also a huge backlog with the FOS, so hopefully the business will get back to you soon, but do think about asking your local MP to write to them on your behalf, and ask the MP if he or she will kindly forward you a copy of the letter/email they are sending.
In regards of EGG.
There is something you could try, and that would be to request a full SAR, as they must hold at least something if this was running until 2007, because they should hold data going back to at least the last 6 years, sometimes even longer.
As you've no account number to enclose on the SAR, give them as many details as possible, any old addresses, your date of birth, and any different surnames.
You enclose the one off payment of £10 cheque or postal order, they have 40 calendar days to comply.
SAR template letter here.

Another way, which maybe free or you pay at least £2 for a full credit report, they will hold details going back to the last 6 years, click in Equifax, or Experian and check them out.
Hope that helps, good luck on both.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Delotte are the receivers, you must contact them and tell them you are waiting for SAR info,i take it you dont have the agreement?.
See if they will give you more time.
Hi AMERSALL,
Did just that. I also contacted the FSCS and they confirmed who Deloitte were too. I contacted Paragon and really helpful and said they would sent my orig loan agreement in a few days, so great, so no need for SAR now. Del asked for insurer name as well, so should get all that on agreement copy. The 10 thing FCSC told me was rubbish as it takes minutes to re-open a case - Getting there slowly :beer:0 -
Hi,
Today I received my cheque, £619, from MBNA - Took about 20 days so not bad!!!
Today I received another turn down from EGG who said they had reviewed my case again but still would not uphold my complaint. I have however, already contacted the FOS and this reply is a reply to a letter I sent to EGG before I did that. I have written back today saying that I must have been unaware that the tick box was pre-ticked and for the reason I was unadvised, alone, should be enough for the decision to go my way. I have forwarded this and the letter from EGG to the FOS as well. I won't give up that easily as I am right, they are wrong.0
