PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Since posting this I have received another letter from RBS offering me a refund of over £8,000 for loans that I don't even remember taking out. OMG!! Who am I to argue with them. Acceptance letters signed and posted off. Will sit back and wait for money to go into bank. That will be over £22,000 in total. Absolutely amazing.
What a pity Martin doesn't have a charity where we could all deposit say 1% for our refunds and say that it is all down to him. I will be making a donantion to Help for Heroes as my son has done eight years in the army and has lost more than one of his friends.
Huge congratulations on your success.
Just so you know, MSE does indeed have its own charity. Two thirds of the funds go towards grants towards individuals and groups to provide education and information about consumer debt issues and the remainder goes to five general charities nominated by site users.

I donated there myself after my husband was successful with credit card reclaiming a couple of years ago.
Hope this helps any of those interested.Thrilled to be DEBT-FREE as of 26.03.10

Hi fed up waiting here Day 45 after returning offer, still no payment. Have finally spoken to somene at barclaycard who have said there isnt a problem!! I beg to differ.
They have such a back log and management are working weekends to process payments. Apparently all large payments have to be looked at again by management! I was advised to phone again in 3 or 4 days to see if any news! Apparently once I receive a letter from them informing me of payment the payment will be here in 5 days. They have said to try be patient which is difficult when I dont know what is happening and why. They dont seem to have a standard and fair schedule for payment. There complaints procedure is not operating ie I havent had a response to written complaints. I will ring in 4 days but would like advise as what to do next. Has anyone else been told this?0 -

Well i have just sent an email to the Cheif Honcho at HSBC
"Good Evening Sir/Madam,
I am writing this email to yourself as I am thoroughly annoyed with your Customer Service. I rang last week regarding my PPI claim and I was told I would receive my money today.
After 200 attempts to get through on 02380 723 838 I still haven’t succeeded, granted this is probably a busy number but when it does ring no-one answers the phone or they pick it up and hang up straight away.
I have tried 02380 722 892 & 0800 881 155 – I have managed to speak to 3 different people and neither one has been able to give me a definitive answer.
I was told after 4pm today I would receive my money, I have checked my account twice now with 30 minutes difference in time and it still hasn’t arrived.
I understand that paying back all this money must be hard for the Bank but you knew the situation and therefore should have more than 1 phone number to ring to get an answer.
I would like this issue dealt with as soon as possible. I have had 3 “notes” passed to the necessary department and since 12.30pm and I still have not had a phone call back from said department to explain what is happening.
This is shocking behaviour and would like a solution as soon as possible."
I have included my mobile number, work email and personal email. Lets see if I get a response this evening.
Finally got through on the first number i tried! i have just been told it will take another 15-20 days for my money to come! Financial Ombudsman here i come and another email to the chief exec as well!

Evening folks,
Well, they say (GE) moves in mysterious ways!
Today has seen the Resolutions Manager at GE contact my sister no fewer than three times today, on the pretence that she had spoken of her annoyance at GE's habit to changing their minds as often as their socks; particularly regarding the promise that her arrears would have been cleared by her PPI rebate in April. To cut a long story short, her balance has been reduced by £350, and her monthly repayments have returned to what they were prior to getting behind in payments. All very positive. But my big question is, why have they suddenly become so willing to reverse these errors? Do you think that it could be a tactic by which they can say that they have been helpful when the FOS get involved in trying to get the PPI and any charges back? What do you think?
This could very well be the the start of the calculations for the redress of ppi,i hope they now act fast to get this sorted once and for all.0 -
Your friend is very grateful not only to yourself (Dilus) but to all the genuine members of the this forum, who give quite freely tremendous support to people that find these issues quite daunting.
This excellent site and the people who formed and run it , have allowed the common man/woman to challenge these large institutions

So far £5.5k with Clydesdale for two loans from 2002 and 2006.
Just over £10k from 5 RBS loans from 1997 to 2000, only sent acceptance away not got the money yet.
Still have another secured loan with Halifax and CC with Bank of Scotland, as well as a very small ppi with RBS from 1996. Just checking out Mortgage protection just now.
Personally speaking I only help where I can the real heroes are DizzyDi, niggly, amersall, cappo and there are quite a few other who I can't remember their names.(Sorry guys!):DThanks to all the competition posters.0 -

So I got home to a letter from MBNA.
This was a loan going back to 2000 / 2001.
The letter says to call them - anyone else experienced this??
You have most likely rung them by now!!! noticed your post was from last night0 -
Hi All,
Got through to lloydstb ppi line straight away with no delay, and got told that my payment will be made in 6-8 weeks, (although when i phoned 2 weeks ago i was told 21 days from letter date) i was told that there is a massive backlog that they are struggling to keep up with. I received a letter dated 22nd sept, saying that payment will be made shortly, I have allocated the money to cover other debts and told them collecters that i will receive payment shortly so this has F*@ked me right over, im pulling my hair out here and will be closing my account down once payment has been received...0
