Some unbelievable news received this evening. I have just got the ball rolling helping on a PPI re claim for a good friend of mine. It was with Abbey National on a loan taken out 5 years ago with 10 months remaining. My friend sent off the questionnaire on THURSDAY last week and has just informed me that Santander have phoned TONIGHT offering a full refund of PPI + 8% standard interest and will make payment within 8 weeks :j:j:j:beer::D
To say I am stunned is an understatement to say the least:eek:

I have a claim in myself that has been going on for 5 weeks, wish they could have been this quick with mine :o

Can I please say on behalf of my friend a very big thank you to Martin Lewis for this fabulous site. To the likes of Di, amersall, Niggly and smitchy to name just a few for all the superb advice and encouragement, without which I wouldn't have had a clue how to go about it :T
A success in less than a week, could be a record

Your friend is very grateful not only to yourself (Dilus) but to all the genuine members of the this forum, who give quite freely tremendous support to people that find these issues quite daunting.
This excellent site and the people who formed and run it , have allowed the common man/woman to challenge these large institutions

  • Hi
I phoned up Lloyds Customer Services today and enquired about payments for uphed complaints. They aim to make payments within 21 working days from the date of the letter. However, there is still a backlog from the huge number of complaints received and its unlikely they can pay within those timescales. Apparantly they are still processing early September payments. Interest payments are calculated 1 month ahead of the date on the letter, so they should pay an adjustment if it goes beyond this date. (although you would need to ask for this). The feeling is that it will take about 8 weeks before payments are in client accounts. If you want to be paid by BACS then this is possible as long as you have informed them in advance. By default, the payment method is cheque. If the payment processing has already started, then it's too late to change it without have to go to the back of the queue.

    Hiya Nat

I don't know a lot about this underwriter to be honest but have heard of them.
If you do not have the Payment Protection Policy details, if you write to them they should send them in the post.
Sometimes these documents are requested for when required and are not always enclosed with the policy documents - from when taken out.

So basically you pursue them, if they refuse, the FOS will be able to adjudicate as they would have been regulated, hope this helps and good luck x;)

Thank you for your brill advice Di :D, I will keep you posted along the journey.
  • Hi All

  • Hi

I am on here whilst getting ready for work (am going to be late now) just to let you know my "28 working days" with Nat West has now passed (yesterday) and no sign of my cheque. I got through to them last week fine but when I tried ringing them yesterday no reply and the phone cuts off! I tried dead ont he dot of 8 am this morning and it still just rings and rings and even have it ringing now whilst I am typing this. I think its disgusting if they cannot pay up on time they should at least had the decency to inform us by letter!

Also my 6-8 weeks with First Plus is up tomorrow and I have been promised faithfully I will receive my cheque by then! But I am beginning to doubt this too now!! I was hoping that the cheque would be clear by Monday!!

I cant wait to get home from work tonight and see what the postman has brought me! The way things are going at the moment it will be nothing as usual!!!

Wooooooo they just answered. No payment as yet by Nat West!! Not even ready to be sent out!! The guy said its states in the letter they "endeavour to make payment within 28 working days" and wouldnt be pushed from that just that they are paying interest on this!!! He went on to say that they were 2 weeks behind but he doesnt know how far behind they are now!!! Its a joke the way they are treating us!! I just hope that Frist Plus are true to their word now!!
I will keep you all informed!!

Was this the decision from the adjudicator or from the actual Ombudsman?

I know there are some who were rejected by an adjudicator at the FOS, but appealed to the boss(Ombudsman) and the rejection got overturned. Just ensure you have all of you reason's for mis-sale we could also help with some quotes from the FSA handbook for you to go back with if we can.

I'm afraid this was the final result from the actual Ombudsman. The Adjudicator had already rejected it.
