Hello everyone. I finally got my cheque last week for £4,780 from RBS. Thank you to Martin, Niggly, and to all who steered me through since May 10 when my application went in on PPI paid on a£25 K loan from Sept 2006 which was paid off early eighteen months later. Additionally- RBS are giving me a £150 goodwill gesture for causing me a lot of hassle after the claim was accepted in making me travel 40 miles to prove my identity despite the fact that they had all my loan details (MINT) and address and that I banked with Nat West for 41 years.

Hello! I have managed to FINALLY get through to Natwest today. I sent my acceptance letter back over a week ago and was today told they received it on Friday, GRRRR.
I asked about my previous acceptance letters (received by them on the 21st Sep) and was told they are 'trying' to make payments within the 28 working days, BUT are flat out and many are not making the timeframe! Not impressed at all. Thinking about slapping on a bit of extra interest and maybe a £6 a day fee for taking so long?!!

I gave up in the end, tried all bloody day to get them, will try again tomorrow. one thing i want to know is when they'll be reducing my payments, so that I know what thyre gonna take this month.

As a side note as you suggest, do you think we are within our rights to claim compensation for every day over the 28 working days they go over, although it does say endeavour so i guess that covers their bums

  • At the beginning of July I too received a letter from the FOS stating they had upheld my complaint and that HSBC had 10 weeks to calculate and reply to me. 12 weeks later nothing so I phone today and after 77 attempts I get through to be told I am a priority case and it would be sorted in 4 weeks. I emailed the CEO Brian Robertson and got the same respone as Dankusan.

Thank you for your e-mail addressed to the Chief Executive, and am very sorry that you feel let down by HSBC, at the present time. I have passed your e-mail to a senior manager within HSBC who is handling our PPI claims, who will investigate the matter and respond to you as soon as possible

    Kind regards

  • A few year ago I sent my letter in to Welcome Finance to question my PPI (I wasn't allowed the loan without it due to poor health, then couldn't claim on it as they linked any problems to pre-existing conditions). Stupidly I gave in when they sent the first letter back to say it wasn't mis-sold.

Last month I decided to give it another go (but didn't hold out much hope as my loan dates back to 1999). I received and returned the questionnaire within 2 weeks, and a week later got a letter to say they were wiping remaining 6k from the loan and giving me an extra £561.

Really glad I tried again, but I wish I had seen it through properly the 1st time around to save being taken to court for non-payment.
  • HI... I have been reading the posts with great interest, we had a large loan £15K with RBS about 5 years ago, we repaid it early as we remortgaged our ex house, the ppi was £5K on the loan and over 5 years payments were £520 ish a month, we put a claim in with RBS September 2010 and were told to go away in so many words, so we filed with the ombudsman, just found an email from them dated March 2011 telling us our case was still waiting for an adjudicator, we then got a letter in July telling us that our complaint had been successful and that we were going to made an offer as a gesture of goodwill, bearing in mind they owe us about £5K plus interest, I think we are looking at something around £9K, give or take a few quid..... to date nothing, cannot get through on the phone, letters sent recorded, no reply..... I know its a matter of time, but I really want to go on holiday at Xmas!!... looks like it will be turkey at home then... I will keep reading the posts... makes me feel a lot better to know that other people are in the same boat...

Rosie, hope you don't mind me asking but how long did you have to wait from acceptance to receipt of the redress money?
Thanks to all the competition posters.

So I got home to a letter from MBNA.
This was a loan going back to 2000 / 2001.

The letter says to call them - anyone else experienced this??
  • Evening folks,

Well, they say (GE) moves in mysterious ways!
Today has seen the Resolutions Manager at GE contact my sister no fewer than three times today, on the pretence that she had spoken of her annoyance at GE's habit to changing their minds as often as their socks; particularly regarding the promise that her arrears would have been cleared by her PPI rebate in April. To cut a long story short, her balance has been reduced by £350, and her monthly repayments have returned to what they were prior to getting behind in payments. All very positive. But my big question is, why have they suddenly become so willing to reverse these errors? Do you think that it could be a tactic by which they can say that they have been helpful when the FOS get involved in trying to get the PPI and any charges back? What do you think?
