Just logged into Egg after sending my template letter for a loan I took out in 2004 just over a week ago. Discovered the balance is showing in credit - I owed over £2000 on the balance of the loan! Hopefully this means I will be getting a cheque in the post and the loan is paid off!

Hopefully they will also refund on the Egg credit card, received a letter saying they are looking into that complaint. :j

Have received a reply from the adjudicator re a claim from first plus and they have upheld all of my complaint, and they have asked me to sign a form and return this to them to confirm that I agree, which I have done, they advised that unless First Plus have any more information that is relevant then they have to sign as well, can anyone come back to advise if First plus can still contest this
hi there how long did this process take you

Just had refund from Egg for £6735.93 on missold loan PPI dont quite understand how it was that much but not gona argue took no effort at all.
Just a couple of letters is there any chance of claiming any compensation against my credit rating being affected/tied up or shold I quit whilst ahead?
    It pays to challenge
  • Thanks MSE i have just recieved over £4600.00 back from Halifax for a PPI charged on a loan that i took out. The PPI would have been useless should i have ever needed it because of pre existing medical conditions.
I used the template on this site and the Halifax has repaid me within 8 weeks including interest at 8%. They didnt even try to say their charges were reasonable, it was all sorted from the first letter with no arguments or hassle.
Thanks again. :T :j  :rotfl:

anyone had success claiming PPI from advantage finance... trying to get £2300 back for a car i bought via one of their (dodgy) dealers..
1st letter was the usual.."everything was above board and thats that"
so second letter with a similar reply... now no holds barred... onto the FOS;)

Hi, My brother has just started to try and reclaim his missold ppi from these lot - he sent letter on friday - was your agreement a faxed copy that the dealer had to sign and date? You can't make out much detail on the agreement and he remembers that the dealer just said sign here and he "will sort everything out for you" no mention of ppi etc - glad to see there is someone else out there with a complaint about these cowboys - Lets keep each other posted with progess?
  • We have tried to reclaim PPI from 3 companies so far. Firstly Lloyds TSB for my credit card, who have been charging me PPI since I first took it out in 1999! I sent in one of Martin's letters & received a response saying that in their opinion the policy was not mis-sold as the box was ticked on the application form, I didn't fill out the form myself, it was done by the advisor at the bank.

The next letter was sent out to GE Capital for a car loan we had for a car purchased at Carcraft, Newport. GE Capital wrote back saying it was nothing to do with them & we had to take our complaint directly to Carcraft. We will be writing to them this week.

Finally we wrote to Abbey with whom we had had a mortagage from 1999 to 2006. We were 'sold' PPI with it because they said we could not have the mortgage without it. A few years into the mortgage I tried to cancel the PPI but was given the same response. Abbey have looked into our complaint (after writing to them twice) & said they can find no evidence of mis-selling & that the policy was right for our needs. Our complaint wasn't that the insurance wasn't right for us, but that we were told it was compulsory.

So now we are not sure where to go next. Do we proceed & complain to the Financial Ombudsman or drop the whole thing? The feeling is that it is turning into a game of our word against theirs!
  • £550 back from Egg for PPI cover where I had a pre-existing medical condition. Total sum claimed was over £1,000 but accepted a reduced settlement on the basis that I probably was covered for unemployment but not illness.

    Reasonably happy.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

My co-op one was only 3 months and I have been paid out too but its cause it was offered as a "Goodwill Gesture" and therefore did not need to be adjudicated as such. They actually made the offer rather than have the FOS go through everything with them. This is how some cases are bought forward. My other complaint is Firstplus and this has been backwards and forwards and got actually passed to an adjudcator in July and now they are telling me its a complaint that lies with the actual insurer instead as its for unfair rebate. I have now got to go through the complaints procedure again and up to yet the FOS are having problems telling me who to make this complaint to. I got an email on the 1st December stating that I need to wait another FEW months and they will get back to me..

They say they are still waiting for information from Firstplus and they do not give the company any time limits for getting back. It is up to the companies and also looks like its Firstplus that keep telling the FOS that they have no jurisdiction too.
BUMP for the purpose of Dreamer33 who stated I used the fast track. I thought it was fast tracked but my bank had already made the offer and the FOS had 30 days to accept and get in touch with me.

I AM NOT ELIGLBLE FOR FAST TRACK ACCORDINGLY and would like your post removing stating otherwise.

Its nothing to do with "Health" reasons. I assume you have to be claiming benefits.

reply I got from the Ombudsman when I asked

I am writing with regards to your current health issues which you have explained to me for which I am grateful. This gave me an opportunity to understand your circumstances whilst dealing with the complaint.

After giving consideration to your circumstances you have submitted, I regret to inform you that is will still be some time before your complaint is allocated. Whilst I understand this must be a distressing time for you, I am also mindful of the situations other complaints are currently facing. If your circumstances change, please keep us informed and we can assess any new information you provide to us.

I am therefore writing to advise that, despite the understandable difficulties you are facing, we are unable to bring your complaint forward. We are working hard to reduce the delays and will keep you updated as to your complaint is progessing.

THIS IS IN REGARDS TO MY LLOYDS COMPLAINT

FAST TRACKING IS I WAS TOLD WAS FOR "TERMINALLY ILL" OR IF YOU ACTUALLY HAVE A REPOSESSION ORDER SO I ASK THAT YOU KINDLY REMOVE YOUR POST.
