  • Good News! just got my settlement letter
    • What were you reclaiming: PPI
    • Who was the provider: HFC
    • How much did you get back: £3,930,97
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: i sent the template letter and got a response after a week which said i would get mayment with in 8 weeks, after 8 weeks nothing so 1 phone call and 5 days later got the letter with the offer plus 8% interest
one thing im not sure about tho, i currently owe £6,792.82, they want to take the ppi money ive won off my loan so i'd have only £2,861.85 left to pay. they agreed i had been misold ppi so shouldnt i have the money i already paid for ppi (3,625,97) aswell as my loan being reduced?

This money should come to you if you are not in arrears. You should have the payments you have made towards the PPI returned to you plus interest.
The rest of the PPI you haven't paid off yet should be taken off the loan plus the interest it has accrued (think thats the right word)

There is a brilliant post by Turboman explaining this.It is on the PPI discussion thread today.

  • Well what a week i have had. Got a letter today off the financial ombudsman to say that HFC abnk / beneficial were refunding all my ppi payments with interest paid and 8% statutory as a goodwill gesture. The money would take 6-8weeks to be refunded. Yahoo!!!

I rang Royal bank of scotland to chase up my cheque for the ppi (they too are settling as per the FO as a goodwill gesture). I found some very useful information out for everyone claiming back ppi. The FO have made agreements with some companies, the two i know of for a fact are HFC bank and Royal bank of scotland / Natwest that any complaints about PPI are just being settled. They are being passed from the ombudsman to the company in bulk in order of date and just being settled (as a gesture of goodwill). The dept dealing with RBS also deals with Halifax and Natwest ppi too and are in Manchester

So......... anyone compalining about PPI with RBS, Halifax, Natwest or HFC bank you are pretty much guaranteed settlement if you do the following:
. Follow the steps as per this website get a final response or wait out the 8weeks (give them chance to put it right)
. If no joy fill in the FO complaints form
. You will have to wait a few months (i have) but you will get a letter saying you are being settled as a goodwill gesture

Hope this helps i have only 1 outstanding complaint now thats with Welcome finance.... OMG nearly there!:j

Sounds very similar to my experience with those 2 companies (rbs & HFC) - did you actually get any figures back from rbs or did they say they are "caclulating their goodwill gesture and will be in touch?"

I had a letter off the FO saying 8 weeks tops before i get money back. I waited 7weeks which was up on monday i think it was so i gave them a call. I got put through to the office in Manchester where the PPI is being refunded on RBS, Halifax and Natwest loans. The guy there told me i should get a cheque in the next week because my account is not in arrears they cant deduct it off the balance. I asked the guy how much the figure was he said he didnt know, i have told him that i want a breakdown with the cheque of how the refund has been calculated so i can check its right. I will let everyone know when it comes and whether there is anything dodgy to look out for. The guy was happy to tell me his life story though, thats how i found out about the deal with the FO. I guess this is because of the FO caseload and the threat of a fine from the FSA eh! Good for us little folk :-)

Have you chased the FO and Tesco up? what did they say? I would get seriously on their backs now because you will have a signed agreement saying they are refunding. If you have been waiting 12months and have been chasing getting no where if it was me i would go file a smalll claims case agianst them. Kick their !!!! in court. You have agreed the refund so you should have no trouble getting the court to make them pay up now.....

Well done on your win hun  :T , I agree with Pinknico's post above, if your not in any arrears it should all come back directly to you, afterall its not your fault if they mis sold this.

If you feel this is not right, and there are no missing payments tell them you are in your rights to request this directly back to you by cheque payment, please let us know what they say hun, good luck.;)
