  • Have chased Halifax again to ask how long "due course" is expected to be after their last letter to me saying they had received my signed acceptance and would be in touch and have received a letter today as below:

"Thank you for your letter, blah blah.....
Unfortunately I am unable to provide you with any specific timescales, however we are dealing with this as quickly as possible and will be in contact in due course."

  • I'm a very happy bunny !!! I contacted Welcome Finance regarding my £25k secured loan ; which i took out 4 years ago. I was put through to a department which sent me the necessary forms to start the claim for PPI reinbersment . I duly did this ; explaining the fact that i was bamboozled by the sales pitch and felt obliged to take it out . Inside a month i received a letter telling be that i would be getting £4700 compensation. All that from 1 phone call and a couple of easy forms. I would encourage any one who is thinking about about it, DO IT !!! It really is that simple, no complicated letters, solicitors etc.
I got caught out in the past with the bank charges ( LLoyds Bank were just about to pay up when the OFT case was announced so i received nothing. That cost me more money and involved a lot of paper work BUT this really is a breeze. It is YOUR money after all and the worst that can happen is that they will say no ( unlikely).
    Good Luck :D
  • Hi, wonder if someone might be able to assist. I had my offer letter a couple of weeks back, still awaiting payment, but have a question in the hope that someone out there may know. The last paragraph said that something along the lines of if you have entered into an IVA etc etc than this payment will be made to that account. Now, unfortunately, I am in an IVA, but not for this loan which was paid off 8 years before I had the IVA, so do you think they mean that if the loan I'm getting paid back PPI for had arrears and was part of an IVA then that refund would be paid to the IVA account, or do you think they check generally to see whether you have an IVA or Bankrupt and pay any award to them.

The more I think about this the more I am worrying slightly, as the amount of the refund is £1,800, which if paid to the IVA would be a drop in the ocean really, and I really want to treat my son to a holiday which we haven't had for 4 years.

Any one across anything like this before, thanks.:o

I hope you don't mind me asking, but how much was the loan and over what term?

I want to see if it is similar to mine.

    Good Afternoon everyone.

Posted my signed acceptance form off (recorded) on the 25/8 and nothing since. Going to try the fax approach tomorrow since ive already sent 2 emails and so far been ignored.

Anyone had any luck from this bailled out pony!?!?

Just fired off another email to the CEO.

The 0844 5560104 was the number I had for Barclaycard. If I remember correctly this took some time to answer.

The number for Barclays dealing with loan PPI is a different number and is 0845 609 0806 and this gets answered quickly.

So it depends which your PPI complaint is with.

    Don't know if this helps.

Thanks - it is barclycard credit card - so I guess I will have to keep trying.
  • I recieved a few "holding" letters after submitting my complaint, after 14 weeks i rang them and after 45 mins on hold, i was informed they had sent a letter some 14 days early (apparently!), a duplicate arrived about 3 days later, with a page to sign stating i would accept the settlement, but it also contained details from someone elses claim/settlement ! (which have been destroyed!)

the call centre informed me (after another 45 min wait!) the settlement would take another 4 to 6 weeks to calculate, only then would they inform me how much that would be.......and payment would follow after that.....hopefully i should get the money by Christmas .......

Off to chase Toyota finance now.......

I rang both the loan number and the credit card number this morning, chasing them up. Got through to loan barclays in a few minutes but held on for about 15 minutes for the credit card number.

Hope you manage to get through and get some success.
  • Hi

Did First Plus give you any reason for the 6-8 week wait? Seems a ridculously long tome considering money had already been put aside

    Hi

Firstplus told me last week the reason why is because they have a backlog of payment's to send out ;), I hope this helps.

    Good morning all,

Just a quick question with regard to the August 31st Deadline.

Were the banks supposed to uphold or reject complaints by the deadline or were they also supposed to provide figures by then if the complaint was upheld ?

    Thanks

    Hi

The FSA given the main of them more time where normally its 8 weeks, they extended it to 16 weeks and as from the start of Sept its 12 weeks, although temporarily.

I understand though they are still not able to keep up and if this is the case they should be notifiying customers in writing to confirm a new date or give the option of the FOS.
I would sit tight though if you can, because currently its taking the FOS even longer to deal with complaints because of an overload of backlogs to deal with.

    Good luck.;)
