Just received confirmation from mbna that my complaint had been updheld. I will be receiving a refund of nearly £43,000.00 in the next 28 days.

I nearly didn't make a claim as I was apprehensive about taking on a big bank. Thanks to the advice and templates on Money Saving Expert I will shortly have my money back, which will be like a new start for me and my family

Many Thanks MoneySavingExpert and Martin Lewis. Keep up the good work. Now waiting to see if I get the same response from Barclaycard and mint. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Luckily I keep my Credit check reports from Experian, and that tells you the amount you were paying and the loan number and date settled. All good as in the past 4 years. I even came accorss a few more i had taken out that i had forgotton about.

On that note does anyone have an address for First National bank ??

    Thanks :)
I am not 100%,but i think these were sold to GE money by Santander.
Hopefully someone will know more and maybe have an address for you.

  • Hi all
Well im still waiting for hsbc to get there bottoms into gear, wednesday is there deadline and they still dont know if my complaint is being upheld!

On a more positive note my friend has had there letter through from lloyds, personally I have had a bit of a giggle about it

Unfortunatley he cant remember dates but from doing simple maths this just looks daft, the below are all on credit cards

    Calculations
Difference between the actual and revised balance = £777.59
Credit Interest at 8% per annum simple = £19.34
    Total = £796.93

Hes not sure how long hes had the card, at least 3 years and has been paying £10 month ppi...... I think the interest they are offering looks absolutly crazy!!

Can some lovely person on here confirm the interest amount looks daft lol!!?!

Also on credit cards because the interest rate is so much higher should that be included?

    thanks all

    Sainsbury's/BOS £6,400 Paid :)
    MBNA £3,600 Paid :)
  • Anyone else had this problem.
    1. RBS upheld my claim on Mint PPI missell (they own Mint) ten days ago with a goodwill payment that was calculated in their favour for £4,800 minus tax on interest.
    2. Niggly's calculation was more in the £7000 region.
    3. I sent my acceptance letter off by registered post next day.
    4. They said they would pay me by cheque by post within 28 days of receiving the acceptance.
    5. Today, home from work I receive a letter from them. It is Friday after 5pm
    6. They say I must attend a local Royal Bank of Scotland Branch and prove my identity with a passport or driving licence photocard.
    7. Their office is only open 8 -5pm mon-fri so I can't get through to anyone to find out where their branches are.
    8. I call NATWEST my bank who I have been with for 33 years to find out if they are gregarded as an RBS branch. Answer is no.
    9. I look on website tio fiund nearest RBS branches.
    10. Nearest branch is Eastbourne -20 miles away. Open on Sat a.m.
    11. I have a trillion things to do that a working person doing an 8am - 5pm job does.
    12. Are they making life as difficult as possible for me! Delaying tactics or what?

    ANSWER IS YES THEY ARE.

  • Barclays are now messing around. I had two credit cards with them - one was originally a Morgan Stanley card that was taken out in 2000 and was transferred over to be a Barclaycard and I know I had PPI on this (Barclays even sent me a copy of the original document I signed when I opened this and the PPI box was ticked). The other Barclaycard that I had only ever had a small limit and there was only one time that I ever paid PPI on this and it was a mistake by them! They were supposed to get back to me by 6th September but I never got the letter they said they sent out on 30/8/11. I rang to state this last week and they say they re-sent it again last week but still no letter. After waiting on the phone for ages they agree to e-mail me the letter. They have upheld it but I now think this is the wrong card as they offer is only for about £55. Now I know for a fact that at times I owed about £8000 on this old Morgan Stanley card and the PPI on this would have been massive. So what are they playing at I am hoping that this is the wrong card - I can now see another long wait on the telephone to discuss this - which means I am going to have to leave work early on Monday!!!

Also I have an old loan with Barclays and I got a letter stating that they would get back to me after 16 weeks - I got a letter the other day apologising and stating that they made a mistake and is should be 12 weeks!!!

    The fight goes on!!!
