Give them a ring and ask for any details they have on you specifically this loan, you need to ask for a copy of your agreement, this will tell you if you had ppi on there, they may charge £1 for this.
If you know you had ppi on there, and can get hold of the account number, that is all you need to make a claim, with reasons for mis sell.

Luckily I keep my Credit check reports from Experian, and that tells you the amount you were paying and the loan number and date settled. All good as in the past 4 years. I even came accorss a few more i had taken out that i had forgotton about.

On that note does anyone have an address for First National bank ??

    Thanks :)
  • I completed the PPI claim form and sent it off to Egg about 9 - 10 weeks ago....without really expecting to hear from them.

Lo and behold, last week i received a cheque for over £2000 (on a loan of about £7000) plus my monthly payments have gone down by about £50!!!! I am soooooo happy especially as the cheque was waiting for me when i got back from spending alot of money during our holiday!! Thanks alot Martin :j:T:beer:

    Hi All

Whats the best way of getting PPI back from a Loan that I think finished in 2005-2007,. I had one 2 with MBNA but cant find any details, How would I get this moved and what details do I need to send them ?

    thanks

    Hiya

I would contact the business first by emailing, ringing or writing to them, but if you have any local branches nearby - call in and they will check the systems for you.

Or, check bank statements for the account numbers, if you bank online - where you used to pay your loan by direct debit, the loan repayments, the account number is generally shown next to that.

If you have the account numbers though and know you were sold ppi and mis sold, you can still continue to make a reclaim without the need of the paperwork. Many have still been successful by just using the loan account numbers.

Another way would be to SAR them, request a Subject Access Request, they have 40 calendar days to comply and send all data they still hold on the accounts, so basically one SAR with one payment of £10 cheque or postal order is sufficient for the data of both of your loans with MBNA, if you do not have the account numbers then give them as many details as you can remember, as well as your personal details, name, name change, same for addresses and so on.
There is a SAR letter template below. Remember a SAR is optional, try the free ways as stated above first.

To make a reclaim, its step 3 below to the reclaim questionnaire that you send, but remember to keep copies as well, good luck.

  • Hi everyone,

I made a complaint to IF on 26-05-2011.

Today I have received a not upheld letter.

    The letter says

    'Dear mr........

    Blah blah

As part of my review, I have considered whether you were eligible for the policy, whether the policy was suitable for you and whether we provided appropriate information to you in relation to your PPI policy when you took it out. I have also taken into account each of the concerns you raised with us in your complaint. Having completed all of these steps, I also looked at your complaint as a whole to ensure that we acted fairly towards you in relation to the sale of your PPI policy, taking into account any other relevant circumstances or information that may be available.

As a result of this review, I am satisfied that there were no issues with the sale of the PPI attached to your personal loan.'

The letter goes on to say if they do not hear from my husband they will close the complaint and consider it resolved.

Fair enough, they have done a thorough investigation. So why did they fail to see that as a self employed business owner he would be paid when he was sick or had an accident.

    Any help?

  • Emailed the CEO on Tuesday to ask them to confirm if they had received my acceptance form I sent back. Got a letter today saying they confirmed they has received it and would be in touch in "due course".

Any ideas how long "due course" is? Do they have to reply at this stage within so long?

    1. Barclays haven't upheld as they say that self employed were covered for disability cover - but the policy says you have to have a certificate to say you are not fit for work .... if you are self employed this includes helping, managing or carrying out any part of the day to day business - although he was self employed, he employed staff - the day to day running would have included paying wages, filling in forms such as PAYE etc - he would not have been able not to have nothing at all to do with the business.
(The policy also defines self employed as "actively working alone or with a partner" - he did not work alone - he had emplyees ???
    2. They have said sales staff required to discuss - he cant re-call speaking to anyone let alone having ticked the box

    Any advice please

    Hi there

I am unsure on this one really, but every policy differs from one company to the other, and hopefully someone will know more on this one with their own experience through self employment.

However, if you do not agree, and have any other further info, ask them to reconsider.
    Was this the final decision?

    Hiya

I did find an address below through the FSA register, but I would also contact the FOS who should have the address details on these, as I would assume they have had dealings with these with customer complaints, at least this way you will get this right the first time round, reason being is when I checked on the FSA register it states "no longer registered", so do contact the FOS as well and tell them you are trying to track down the address for them.

Meanwhile the address I did find is this one here.

    First National House
    53-61 College Road
    Harrow
    Middlesex
    HA1 1FB

  • Just received confirmation from mbna that my complaint had been updheld. I will be receiving a refund of nearly £43,000.00 in the next 28 days.

I nearly didn't make a claim as I was apprehensive about taking on a big bank. Thanks to the advice and templates on Money Saving Expert I will shortly have my money back, which will be like a new start for me and my family

Many Thanks MoneySavingExpert and Martin Lewis. Keep up the good work. Now waiting to see if I get the same response from Barclaycard and mint. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
