Forgive my ignorance fellow money savers, but

    What is SAR?

Is the 8% that they caculate just the time when you had the product or from then until now?

Am still learning and as I never had PPI am doing on behalf of hubby and now friends and family,
Hi there, a SAR is when you write to the bank and ask for all information for accounts that you have had with them, this will cost you £10 per bank.
The 8% is from the date you took the product to the date you win the mis sell.

If you have account numbers and reasons for mis sell, you dont need to SAR.
Look here for reasons for mis sell and any other info you need to claim

If you need anymore help, just ask.

    Hi Everyone

So I rang MBNA customer advocate department yesterday to see if they received the email I sent them in response to their "we're not upholding you cmplain because you ticked the box" response.

The girl I spoke to said, we haven't got your email, it's not been attached to your complaint file, and your complaint will not be reopened no matter what so go complain to the FOS - as uphelpful as she could possibly be!

So this afternoon I decided I'd forward the email to them again but this time copy it in to the CEO too - and within a few hours I received a secured email from a senior case handler at MBNA advising me that he would be handling my complaint personally and has opened a new complaint to deal with the points I have raised in my email, and would get back to me within 7 days but that I was free to contact him whenever I wished

Maybe there is some hope and MBNA will come to their senses!

So to anyone who's been turned down by MBNA, it's worth listening to the great advice that the guys give everyone on here and don't give up the fight - they've not changed their minds yet but it looks like they're taking my email seriously :T

And congratulations to everyone who have heard the magic "upheld" and fingers crossed for everyone still waiting!

    Morning everyone

My casehandler at MBNA got back to me a day earlier than promised:

"I have taken on board the information provided in your previous email and have spoken with my immediate management team in order for me to get clarification on the issues you have raised. Regrettably, I am still waiting for this clarification and request a further 7 days for this investigation to take place.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me using the details below."

I don't mind him asking for more time as it gives me hope that they are actually looking at my complaint this time.

I've replied and told him I look forward to hearing from him in due course and that I appreciate him looking into my complaint and keeping me updated with his progress - creeping I know but if I'm nice to him, he might be nice to me :rotfl:
    Nationwide Loan - Success - £2,596.24 - 8 weeks Egg CC - Success - £99.51 - 2 weeks Lloyds CC - Success - £1,151.27 - 16 weeks & 2 days
Lloyds Loan - Success - £186.17 -Waiting for payment Virgin CC - Rejected - but 23 days into re-opened complaint - update overdue
  • Hi All!

I haven't posted before but do read a few of the forums regularly. I've been reading all the advice on this forum so just wanted to post to share my success story.

I was reclaiming PPI on several loans I have had in the past few years and the current loan I have (I consolidated a few of my debts into one loan a couple of years ago). All these were held with HSBC.

Today I have received a letter offering me a refund of £9094.26!!!
The majority of this will be used to clear the outstanding balance of my current loan and there will be some left over to go straight into my pocket. I've only written one letter to HSBC and had a couple of telephone conversations with them but I think I'm very lucky that it's been a relatively straightforward process for me.

My grounds for claiming were that I was specifically told that my application to consolidate my debts into one loan would be refused unless I took out HSBC's ppi.

Just want to say a massive thank you to everyone on here for all your advice and positive support for people claiming - even if we aren't regular posters, we have learnt a lot from people's experinces on here. As a result of this, my husband and I are going to have one less loan repayment to make each month and so can pay off our credit cards even faster - our new goal is to be debt-free by April 2012 (without this we wouldn't have been debt-free until August 2013!)

    Thanks again!

Hi all, I posted in a Lloyds topic last week, I have also received a letter from Lloyds, I had 3 ppi claims, and they have been upheld :j I've sent back the acceptance form so just waiting now for a total figure.

All the loans have been paid off now. it was a long time ago and they were for a total of £24k (crazy spending period of my life) Not sure how much of a ppi refund to expect!

I've also just put in a claim for my Llloyds credit card ppi too! :)

Good luck to those still waiting, congrats to those who have been successful.

    Regards

Forgive my ignorance fellow money savers, but

    What is SAR?

    Hiya

A SAR is in short for Subject Access Request.
This is a request for all your data they hold on all your accounts you may have taken out with them, they have 40 calendar days to comply and you enclose the one off payment of £10 cheque or postal order.
They may only go back to the last 6 years though, but some still hold data for even longer.

For example, if you had a loan, credit card with the same business, then only one SAR is required, as it should cover for all accounts you have with them, and as stated just the one off payment as said above, if you do ever want to SAR, try to give them the account numbers that apply in case they miss anything, or as many of your details as possible, full name, any change of name of the last 6 years, same for address and so on.

Hope this helps and for your information, and if ever required which is always options, there is a SAR letter template below.:)
