Well after over a year of waiting (complaint submitted June 2010), I got my calculation letter today - right on deadline! I had the upheld letter 2 weeks ago so didn't think it was likely I'd get the final calculation before the deadline, but I did - yay! Hopefully it wont be too long before they credit my account as I've sent the acceptance letter back today. (Anyone got their money from HSBC yet?)

I've been offered £2,572. I almost fainted when I saw that as I had no idea what I'd get, expecially as I had cancelled my PPI after 2 years into a 5 year loan! I can now pay off my career development loan 4 years early which will be a huge weight off my shoulders, especially as I have no income to pay the bills at the moment!

Anyway, thanks to everyone here. I could not have done it without all the advice and guidance that seems so plentiful on this website.

Good luck to everyone else waiting for a result.

    :D xxx

    What a great result!

And well done you for paying the CDL off with it - that meanns you'll make even more than the 8% compensatory interest as you should get a rebate for the interest on the CDL!

    :T

Congratulations to all who have got their PPI back!

    Hi,

yes - if you are talking about overlimit/late payment etc for loans and credit cards (NOT overdrafts) you can dispute these and ask that they refund you, as they do NOT reflect the true cost to the lender of your failure

I would be inclined to write these out as seperate complaints to any PPI comp-laint you have in, so they dont attempt to lump them in with PPI which would take longer

They are only entiotled to the 8 weeks to address a complaint about penalty charges NOT the 16/12 weeks that most have been given to address PPI charges

    Hi Tifosi,

Thanks so much for the advice, I find this stuff very confusing, hence the reason I spend ages each day trawling this forum. I'll raise a separate complaint against lloyds for these charges.

    Thanks again!

    Many thanks for that !
What I cant get my head around is what part the amount of £6458.95 (difference between what was paid up front and what was refunded) plays (if any) in the calculation ?
Sorry to butt in tifosi :D xxx
The 6.458.95 is what the total of ppi was, less the 16.774.49 (this you have already had as a rebate of ppi) leaves you with, you get
this back plus the payments you made and the 8% hope this helps

    Hi,
    Can anyone help me?
Had 2 loans with Sainsbury's bank, one refinancing the other in 2004
2nd loan clearly has credit care gold and then interest on top of that:
    A cash advance: £6750
    B interest on C A £1464
    C amount of creditcredit care gold(PPI): £2741.17
    D interest on CCG £594.23
Total amount of credit A+C £9491.17
Total charge for credit B+D £2058.83
    Total amount payable £11.550.00
    APR 7.7%

    Figures for 1st loan
    A Advance £5000
    B CCG(PPI) £2030.50
    amount of credit £7034.50
    total charge for credit £1667.10
    amount payable £8697.60
    APR 8.4%
What is confusing me is there is no interest being added on to PPI here, is that right or is it hidden?
    Thanks

    Hi,

firstly, looking at the 1st loan it seems odd that A) (£5,000) + B) (£2,030.50) = £7,034.50 - where did the extra £4 come from? have you mistyped that?

Anyway, I'll carry on and disregard that for the time being:

Can you give us the dates each loan started, together with the amount of loan 2 thats was used to pay off loan 1? (need this as its likely they gave you a rebate on the PPI when you paid loan 1 off early)

Once we have that, we can try and work out what you should be due

Today I have received 2 letters from Barclays for 2 references that I have not yet filled in the claim forms for as they are among the 19 that I am still waiting for loan details! No mention of the 3 forms already filled in. Both letter simply say the same:

    Dear xxxx
In our previous letter, we promised to keep you updated on the progress of our investigation.
I'm sorry that our investifation is taking longer that(sic) expected and apologise for any inconvenience this may be causing you.
You now have the option to refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service if you wish and I have enclosed a copy of thier leaflet, which includes details of how to contact them. However, I very much hope we will be able to resolve your complaint without you needing to do this.
Thank you for your continued patience....

No leaflet for FO was enclosed!!!!! Er - do I just leave it for now, and await their response?

    Hi Amersall and Di,

Just want to say thank you very much for your responses re my posting this morning on the offer letter received this morning from Halifax. Amersall your advise sounds good to me particularly as this morning I rang Halifax and they are unable to give any calculations at this moment. So acceptance letter is winging its way to them as I type and will take it up with them at a later date if I dont agree with their calculations!!!

    BIG FAT THANKYOU.

This may be regarding the 3 you already have in?.
That would be my guess, and i would let them get on with it,the wait at the FOS could be in excess of 18 months.

I hate the way folks are slagging of companies on here that do a fair job for fair payment. the choice to use a cmc is up to the person - I have no inclination of doing it my self I don't have a lot of spare time. xxxx xxx claims got me my cash back.
I can understand your point of view and I don't mind paying a decent rate for a decent job, but losing approx. 25% (plus VAT) of any win for the sake of filling in a questionnaire and sticking a stamp on an envelope isn't what I would call a decent return unless you are a Claims Management Company.

Omg, omg, omg, omg....not only did the decision letter arrive this morning my claim has been upheld in my favour to the tune of £4134.74 :j:j:j:j
To say I'm happy is an understatement !!!

I originally rang them on the 10th May this year to put in my claim after reading this thread, and had a reciept letter on 14th May. on May 31st I had a letter saying I should hear within 8 weeks and have been phoning them every fortnight for an update. I did also email the CEO of RBS a few weeks back although his reply was useless (suppose I was lucky to get one at all).

A big thank you to everybody on here for the great advice and support shared. If it wasn't for you guys RBS would still be above amount better off.

Have already posted my acceptance letter back so hopefully will be early xmas shopping in 28 days :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Good luck to everybody who are still awaiting decisions and payouts xxxxxxxx

Thrilled that someone has got money out of RBS but very unhappy that claims put in over twelve months ago have not been dealt with yet, Not your fault I know so please enjoy it when you get it. Hopefully we'll not be too far behind you and we can all have a good Chistmas. WELL DONE.:j
