hi
letter i received from fos stated , you had to give fos 2 weeks to contact the bank to tell them that you want to go ahead with the uphold , then the bank had up to 8 weeks to sort it all out , this was also verified by the fos this morning
dean

Aha!

I see, its down to the fact that the banks and FOS work in a different time/space continium than the rest of us mere mortals, where posting a letter and it being received takes 2 weeks trather than the usual 2-3 days

:D

Congratulations to all who have got their PPI back!

Thank you!

I did not have a copy of the agreement, just some old statements. I put in the complaint form that, to the best of my knowledge, I applied online. This is what I recall doing. I had other credit cards at that time, none of which had PPI, as I do remember being aware of what it was. I was really surprised to see it on the old Virgin statements! I guess I didn't really examine them at the time (I was not very finance savvy in those days and was juggling too many cards!!!)

I opened the account in 2004.

The address I posted the complaint to was:

Virgin Credit Card
The Customer Advocate Office
PO Box 1004
Chester Business Park
Wrexham Road
Chester
CH4 9WW

Hope that helps!

That's a great help,thank you so much!

OH's card was also opened in 2004, I think (must double check this) but don't think he applied on-line. I'm almost sure it was one of those 'Congratulations!.....Guaranteed Acceptance' type letters that used to fall through our letter box on a weekly basis!!

I won't bother with a SAR and just send off and see what happens,I think.

Thanks again.....enjoy your money!:T

Got a letter today from lloyds TSB stating that they have upheld all my complaints & i've to sign an acceptance and return it & then wait for a big fat cheque (well there is hoping).

What were you reclaiming: Loan ppi (x6) (going back to 1996)
Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
How much did you get back: Awaiting calculation ( but letter states, all ppi payments, 8% simple interest & all interest acquired with ppi payments to be refunded).
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: filled in 6 consumer questionnaire complaints, got acknowledgement letters, then letters for extension being granted, then letters to say all complaints are under one reference number. Then a offer letter, which needed to be signed & returned for calculations, await figures now! ;);):D

Thanks for everyones help & best of luck to all others in the que :D;)
:j:j:jExcellent :j:j well done :beer::beer: xxx

Go easy on me please guys - although I’ve been watching this space for many months, this is my first time posting so I’m bound to make a mess of things somehow!

Anyway, I’ve currently got PPI claims in for both an old loan and a credit card with Lloyds TSB. However a friend has just asked a question which has got me thinking.... (maybe and probably) I’m being stupid but if I am already reclaiming PPI on a credit card, can I also dispute the charges against me i.e. over limit charges, late payment etc?

Allegedly, complaints received by Halifax on or before the 5th May have to have the figures etc by today.

Any complaints received after the 5th May only have to receive the upheld or not letter within the timescales given.

Then, when you send back the signed acceptance, they are dealing with the calculations in order of receipt of the acceptance.

So for eg, they received mine on the 26th August.

So mine will be dealt with when they get to that date.

They couldn't give me a date of the acceptances that they are working on currently.

I can feel an email to Mr Osario coming on as I have waited the 16 weeks (8 weeks longer than normal)

Grrrrrrrrrr

Hi,
I am hoping there is somebody that can help me with my problem (Amersall or Di maybe??).

Received an offer letter this morning from the Halifax with conveniently no settlement amount mentioned. They are asking me to sign this (offer??) without knowing the amount and I want to know if they can do that? My particular worry is that my loan and ppi in question was paid up via their debt collection section (Albion) in May 2011 and I paid them what they quoted as the settlement figure at that time. I am concerned that they may want to now claw back some of my due refund to pay Albion IF I did not settle the full amount at that time. Where do I stand here, can I insist on receiving the offer amount before signing? Or can I sign and then dispute the amount? Seems a very crafty way of doing business.

Thanks for any help from intersted parties.
Hi there, you will in the first place recieve the full redress :j:j
When you get the refund, they will give you figures on how it was worked out.

With regards to Albion, did you ask for a settlement figure for this and then paid it off?, if you did and you have proof of settlement,i dont see how they can take any off your win to give to these.
Wait until you get your figures and then post back, you can dispute them if you think they are wrong, even though you signed acceptance, you only signed for full redress and not amounts,so dont worry xx.

Wishing you the best of luck on this letter, and we are hoping it will be one in your favour.
It's difficult to predict the outcome, although I am personally hopeful for you.

Just to give us maybe some sort of idea though, how long ago did you put the complaint in?

Omg, omg, omg, omg....not only did the decision letter arrive this morning my claim has been upheld in my favour to the tune of £4134.74 :j:j:j:j
To say I'm happy is an understatement !!!

I originally rang them on the 10th May this year to put in my claim after reading this thread, and had a reciept letter on 14th May. on May 31st I had a letter saying I should hear within 8 weeks and have been phoning them every fortnight for an update. I did also email the CEO of RBS a few weeks back although his reply was useless (suppose I was lucky to get one at all).

A big thank you to everybody on here for the great advice and support shared. If it wasn't for you guys RBS would still be above amount better off.

Have already posted my acceptance letter back so hopefully will be early xmas shopping in 28 days :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Good luck to everybody who are still awaiting decisions and payouts xxxxxxxx

Hi,

yes - if you are talking about overlimit/late payment etc for loans and credit cards (NOT overdrafts) you can dispute these and ask that they refund you, as they do NOT reflect the true cost to the lender of your failure

I would be inclined to write these out as seperate complaints to any PPI comp-laint you have in, so they dont attempt to lump them in with PPI which would take longer

They are only entiotled to the 8 weeks to address a complaint about penalty charges NOT the 16/12 weeks that most have been given to address PPI charges

Hi,
Can anyone help me?
Had 2 loans with Sainsbury's bank, one refinancing the other in 2004
2nd loan clearly has credit care gold and then interest on top of that:
A cash advance: £6750
B interest on C A £1464
C amount of creditcredit care gold(PPI): £2741.17
D interest on CCG £594.23
Total amount of credit A+C £9491.17
Total charge for credit B+D £2058.83
Total amount payable £11.550.00
APR 7.7%

Figures for 1st loan
A Advance £5000
B CCG(PPI) £2030.50
amount of credit £7034.50
total charge for credit £1667.10
amount payable £8697.60
APR 8.4%
What is confusing me is there is no interest being added on to PPI here, is that right or is it hidden?
Thanks
• Well after over a year of waiting (complaint submitted June 2010), I got my calculation letter today - right on deadline! I had the upheld letter 2 weeks ago so didn't think it was likely I'd get the final calculation before the deadline, but I did - yay! Hopefully it wont be too long before they credit my account as I've sent the acceptance letter back today. (Anyone got their money from HSBC yet?)

I've been offered £2,572. I almost fainted when I saw that as I had no idea what I'd get, expecially as I had cancelled my PPI after 2 years into a 5 year loan! I can now pay off my career development loan 4 years early which will be a huge weight off my shoulders, especially as I have no income to pay the bills at the moment!

Anyway, thanks to everyone here. I could not have done it without all the advice and guidance that seems so plentiful on this website.

Good luck to everyone else waiting for a result.
