can anyone help me i have just got my credit card statement from tesco they have taken the ppi money off my account fair enough, but the have put charges of £680 on and no one at tesco's can tell me why!! do i contact the financial ombudsman ? please help:mad:
Hi,
as said above, you need to put a complaint to Tesco in writing asking for a full explanation - £680 is a massive amount of chrges - they HAVE to explain that
It will be quicker to try and get Tesco to sort it rather than going straight to FOS - FOS are buckling ubder the strain of the PPI complaints so any complaint to them will no doubt take many months to resolve
Also - are you sure you are happy with the PPI refund coming off the balance?
They are only entitled to apply the refund to the balance if there are payment arrears
So, if you have a £5k balance, with £500 in arrears and you get a £2k PPI refund, they can only apply £500 of the refund to the balance, the rest must come straight to you via cheque/bank transfer
Obviously if there are no arrears they must pay it all to you direct!-
Congratulations to all who have got their PPI back!

The GM Card is now looked after by HFC / Beneficial Finance (part of HSBC). Address is PO Box 5140, Coventry CV3 9ES
I think CityBank were also known at one time as Capital Bank, based in Chester (assuming the spelling is CITYbank and not CITIbank). They seem to now be part of the Bank Of Scotland, PO Box 761, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS1 9JF. Give them a call on 0845 6014034 - they'll be able to tell you if they are (or if I'm mistaken).
Thanks Dr...

Hi, my fiance has contacted Alliance and Leicester / Santander asking for his old loan account numbers (he has his current one but not his old ones) and they passed him from pillar to post and basically refused to give the information, telling him he had to write to them to get this information. Is this right?0

My big loan which I am being refunded the PPI on, the total PPI on this amounted to £6,385.50. I paid it for around 34 months and the PPI I paid on my installments, not including interest, was £2,584.61. I have just called HBOS and was advised that when I settled I was given a PPI rebate of £1,850.38.
Hi there, you get the ppi total back, they will take off the rebate they gave you when you settled, you then get the 8% plus the 36 ppi monthly payments you made with interest.
Was the ppi interest paid each month,or was it fixed over the term of the loan?,if it was fixed, the interest on your monthly payment is included in the monthly ppi payment.
What figure have you been offered?,if you post the calculations up,one of our maths wizards will work this out for you.0 -
I have recently claimed from Barclaycard for refund and interest re "Payment Break Plan" payments.
They paid pretty quickly, £597.23, for payments going back to June 2005.
I replied that I had had card, I believe, from 2001 originally Providian, and that payments should date back to then.
They have come back with they only hold statements for 6 years and this is their final offer.
Although their are no statements back to 2001 should Barclays refund to that date and has this been clarified with the Financial Ombudsman?
Thanks0 -

Hi there
I think what they are then saying is to request a Subject Access Request (SAR) where they have 40 calendar days to comply and send all data they still hold on all accounts.
This you enclose £10 cheque or postal order, and there is a FULL SAR template letter below.

However, sometimes by just calling into the branch, and ask long as you have the account number of the account (bank account number should be ok), then they may check the systems there and there.
Some banks are more lenient than others and will give the info without the need of having to request for a SAR.
Good luck with this. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
