How long did your preference account claim take? Well done by the way. I have one in for my preference account.
    Thank you

I sent my complaint letter in the first week of May, so that's roughly 14 weeks to make the offer. I think it will probably be another 4 weeks for the actual cheque.

After the recent media coverage of the mass mis-selling of PPI I decided with the help of moneysavingexpert to pursue PPI reclaims against 4 different companies.

One of these companies was Capital One, who i wrote off to following the template letter published by MSE! I got a fairly quick response on 1st July 2011 informing me that they had received my complaint and were investigating it. On 20th July I received another letter informing me that they had decided to refund all my premiums in full plus an 8% interest added to the amount. I signed the acceptance form and received my refund cheque for £96.97 on 3rd August 2011. So all in all it took just over 1 month to claim this money back. It is perhaps worth noting that Capital One received a fine on 15th February 2007 from the FSA of £175,000 for PPI selling failures between January 2005 and April 2006 (a fact which I made sure to helpfully point out in my original letter!) My Credit Card and PPI were both taken out during this period, so I believe that my claim was reasonably straight forward. So if anyone else has had PPI on a Capital One card taken out within this period, My advice would be to start the reclaim process now, as the fabled 6 year period for reclaming is coming to an end this coming April! (Although i know there have been many settlements from much more than 6 years ago!)

  • Hi

Thanks for the information, they said that this was their final decision, but I think I need to send them another letter I don't think they should be able to fob people off like this.
I sent my first letter in April of this year, you will probably find they are giving everyone the same story!!! Hope you have better luck with them:)

Will keep you up to date
    Good Luck

    Hi,

I'm waiting for a decision from M&S on a Storecard that was then converted to a Mastercard in 2003. I suspect I will get a similar response to yours, the only difference is that on my Storecard application form (It was in 1994) there is a box that you explicitly have to tick if you WANT PPI and my copy definitely not ticked. My claim is on the Mastercard as I believe they added PPI when they changed me from a Storecard to a Credit Card, without my express permission and they could not produce anything to suggest I had agreed to it. Despite all of this I suspect they will say no as you don't tend to read many M&S successes on here. If they don't uphold my claim then it's off to the FOS I go, although I'd rather not have to if possible...:(

Good luck with pursuing your claim with M&S, fingers crossed:)

    Regards

Thanks for this mate. I am hopefull for this one. I was paying this for ten years and didnt really know i had it until all this kickoff. I also think i was paying quite a bit 60-80 a month on average so it amounts to quite a bit of money i am owed.

I posted a letter to santander regarding our current loan and previous loan for miss selling as felt we were given no option but to take as part of loan. This was for an Alliance and Leicester loan taking the bronze life insurance.

IT WAS ONLY POSTED ON 15TH AUGUST

Today received an 'upheld letter' for the tune of a tad over £2000.

Said will credit within 2 weeks.

Excellent service and so pleased. Now why can't all institutions deal with the complaints in this way.

Out of my 4 claims in this was the one I was the least sure of.

Thank you to all thise who have given advive it gave me the confidence to question this insurance and all for the price of a stamp.

Good luck with your complaint, hope they don't keep you waiting much longer

I've no idea how much to expect, I've got very little paperwork as I closed the account several years ago. I'm after a new microwave, so if it pays for that I'll be happy :)
