PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Following my previous post yesterday I've just found an old Goldfish statement showing a payment for PPI back in 2003! Hopefully that will be proof that I had got PPI on the account. Fingers crossed. Also found bank statements showing payments to Goldfish dating back to 1996. Last payment I can find to them was late 2008. Account still open so lets wait and see what happens now.0

Just a quick question for anyone who can help me. I have calculated what I think I may be due back from my successful complaint with HBOS on two loans I had with them, both settled before my complaint was made.
One thing I potentially have not factored into my calculation is the PPI rebate when I settled both loans. I know that when a loan is settle before the end of its period you get an interest rebate for part of the interest due at that date. Is this the same with PPI? If so does this mean that on top of the PPI already paid I could also be refunded PPI I potentially paid on settlement of both these loans?
I see that some banks were in the habit of doing this but not sure if all banks were. Was this common practice?
Any help appreciated!0 -
Hi all
Can someone help!!
I just received a letter form M&S yesterday they are rejecting my claim! They said they have investigated my claim see below:
1. I completed the application in my own time. M&S money were not present so no advice could have been given to you about the merits of the policy.
2. By signing the overalll credit agreement you confirmed you were happy with contents of the application form and the account terms and conditions. (we are going back about 20 yrs when this was a storecard)
3. Details regarding the PPI and the account terms and conditions were attached in the application form.
4. Policy documents were issued to your detailing the benefits, exclusion and cancellation rights. These should have been consulted to ensure the cover was suitable.
5. The application required you to tick, sign and print your name to confirm you were happy for PPI to be added to your account, as this was fully completed we processed to add PPI to you card as requested.
6. In 2003 we wrote to you to inform changing to Mastercard account., and again in 2207 making me aware of changes to PPI policy.
Due to these reasons they have rejected my claim. I never ticked any box for PPI in was obviously in the small print and I have been paying this for over 20 years!!!
Is there anything more I can do????:mad::mad::mad::mad:0 -

I had exactly the same response from my M & S Storecard taken out in the 80's and closed in 2009.
I,ve decided to just let this one go, they sent me a copy of the application form which was the type that you have to tick if you don't want PPI - I did not tick it.

Just a quick note to say I've noticed a lot of people on here who are not claiming / don't think they can claim because their PPI is over six years old. Just to advise my credit card was taken out with the Halifax 14 years ago and they refunded my PPI, so do give it a try!0

Hi, my first time posting here. I stumbled across this site in May and after reading posts from peeps I phoned Lloyds TSB and told them that I thought I had been miss-sold PPI on my Loan and Credit Card. The customer relations peep took my name etc and told me he would be in touch. I got a letter confirming contact a few days later and today got an acceptance offer letter. Well chuffed I can tell you !! :T
My thanks to you all for all the advice written down here, I would not have known what to do.
p.s. I log in every day to read updates from peeps, it's like coronation street, your scared to miss an episode:D
A big thankyou once again0 -
Hi N,
I have copies of my credit card statements with the PPI & interest on them for Lloyds. When i send in my claim does it mean they just owe me just the PPI or the PPI & the interest?

Hi Guys
Well, I have just had a huge surprise. Lloyds have sent me letters confirming that, while they have no details of my loans, they are willing to make a gesture payment of £1200 on each of them!!:j:j
I will put that into perspective if it helps you. On the 1996 loan thats the equivalent of paying £10 a month for 5 years. £600 ppi refund and has it happens £600 interest. I wander how they came up with the figure:think:. I would try and remember how much you paid each month and counter offer just use the above figs as a base line its easy £20 per month double the figure £30 triple and so on.
Cheers N:beer:0
