:j I have just successfully got £1001.12 offered to me from HSBC after only sending one letter by recorded delivery which cost me about £1. I was claiming back PPI on a HSBC graduate loan which I had repaid early but had not received sufficient money back as the total PPI had been added on at the beginning and i also believed I had been mis-sold and ripped off. I had paid out £768.63 but was also offered 8% interest bringing the total to £1001.12. What a result, and its all because of this site. Thank you so much. I am going to do exactly the same for my mam now as she has got one the same with Halifax.

  • Hi guys here goes i have written to hsbc about ppi on my credit card and think it was miss-sold i took the card out in june 06 they have wrote a very long winded letter of explanation saying this policy was suitable for a customer with your requirements. at the time i purchased the cardholder repayment protector plan it was hsbc process to provide me with a product information pack which they did.they are saying they are unable to agree to the refund, they also say the premiums have appeared on my statements from june 06 and since then i had not contacted them to query the insurance that i consider to have been miss-sold. i wrote to them originally in december 2008. is this letter a fob off and should i continue with this.
    many thanks to you all.
  • hi all just wanted to share my experience after writting letter to claim back ppi on a credit card which i took out june 06 hsbc wrote back saying the plan was suitable for a customer with my requirements (of which i had none ) they also stated that the product information pack had been given to me they say they are unable to agree to the refund and if i am dissatisfied to take it to the fos a booklet was enclosed. so im not one of the lucky ones but its great to hear your success stories keep trying its all good stuff.

FOS then. RBS said pretty much the same to me. I went to the FOS and they caved with a "good will" settlement.

    Hi there

I left you a pm as well hun just in case.;)

This seems like the usual standard fob off you've received from them, if they have not given you the opportunity to write back to them again I would now move on to the FOS.;)

Enclose all copies of correspondence with the complaint form and keep one for yourself and also send a copy to HSBC, tell HSBC you have now moved your case on to the financial ombudsman service for them to investigate your complaint as you are not satisfied with the response you have received, and have also enclosed a copy of the complaint form for their records and interest.
(Sometimes they reconsider, even if your complaint is within the FOS), so if this is finally successful let the FOS know.
But do not guarantee this about them reconsidering in your favour.

But if HSBC have give you the opportunity to write to them again, write back and ask them to reconsider your letter dated XX/XX/XXXX as you are not satisfied with their response and will appreciate if they could look again as you feel you believe you were mis sold due to your reasons.
(it seems to me they added this without giving you the choice, even if it did suit your requirements, you may have had cover elsewhere to cover this this, they did not question you on this as it seems).

So keep at them hun, and post up if you require any further help, good luck.

  • Well after visiting this site I decided to ring up HSBC and get all the details of the PPI policies I had had from them. There was 5 in total. I used the letter template and sent my letter to them back in November stating I felt that I had been mis-sold the policies and that I had felt pressured into having them as this would guarantee me the loan. I had 2 letters back saying they were still investigating and on Friday I received another letter. They said they didnt agree with my reasons however there was an offer of £3199.00. I was so pleased as it had only took one letter and I decided to accept the offer. Thank you to this site for showing me I could to this.
