Just got to send off acceptance and await the breakdown now. Mega thanks to all the stars on here once again :T
Here are some calculations for ya to digest Niggly (or one of the other human calulators).
Original loan amount - £3,000
PPI add-on - £714.48
APR - 15.75 %
Loan start date - 13/08/2004
Loan end date - 9/08/2009
Well done Thundercat Out of interest when did you put in your claim?0 -
Hi Julie, Well done with your loans, I've had one upheld and paid out this week for £2800 from Lloyds from 2000 but I had all the details for it, but I have another two from the 90's that I have no details on but just have the bank account details that they took the payments from. Now you have given me some hope in pursuing them.Just out of interest what info did you actually give them, and did you phone the DPA department or write to them.
TIA
Nikki
Just found the account number for the loan:T:T as it was on the top of the loan agreement that I have just been paid out for. The loan that I was paid out for was a rollover of the loan before and their's a little section that says existing sort code and account number if to be repaid. Phoned up Lloyds and they have details of it even though it's from the 90's so complaint lodged, advised 16 week wait, but I have plenty of patience;)
Hiya
I just had the bank account number that the loans came out of! I didn't even have the loan account numbers or anything. No documents either.
I initially wrote to them in October 2010 and got a letter back pretty quickly saying they couldn't trace the loans.
I was pretty annoyed so wrote back a couple of weeks later saying they can trace it through my current account etc. etc. No reply so I just got fed up and didn't pursue until May this year after JR. I contacted them again saying they hadn't responded to my previous letter and wanted a proper investigation.
Got a letter saying they would investigate and get back to me by 31st August. Sent a few emails to CEO etc. and got my letters today :j
I just wrote to the DPA department but they wanted me to collect the docs and I live in NI so didnt bother. Only have their letter saying that it wasn't worthwhile anyway as the loans were 13 and 15 years ago and they had no docs.
Defo go for it!0 -
Hi all,
This farce just gets better and better, and to be honest I don't know whether I want to laugh or cry!
I'm currently sitting in my sister's living room, sipping a brew as we try to get our heads around the latest development. GE Money have sent what seems like generic letters to their customers explaining that they are implementing a system where people will be charged £40 a month if they are in arrears-regardless of how much. Do you think this is a way of them trying to get more money from their customers who have been successful in reclaiming their PPI?
Secondly, since £150 was paid to GE this week, my sis rang them to find out how it had affected the oustanding balance, only then to be subjected to a ten minute interrogation into how she was handling her finances, and was required to give a breakdown of her income and expenditure. The girl at GE even had the cheek to ask if she could look at my sister's credit history! Of course, my sis said no, she would not authorise that, and refused to give any further info on how she was handling her day-to-day expenses. I was very proud of her! However, since we are relative novices in this, does anyone else think that perhaps GE are now feeling the pressure and using every tactic they can think of to support their argument that the PPI was valid?0 -

I'm wondering if you could help please?! I am in the same situation as you. I had a loan from Lloyds in January 1998 and i am going to try and reclaim or get some information if i can. Can you please help me and advise what the DPA department is please, do you have contact details for them?
I have been into 3 branches to try and get some details from them and they have said all they can tell me is i had a loan from them in January 1998 but that was all. I know i had about £6,000 or £6,500 and it was over 5 years and paid over £10,000 back to them, but like you have no paper work.
I would be very happy if they gave me a goodwill gesture if they cant find details (as long as it was a decent amount!) and would accept it if you are happy with it!
I am about to start a claim with credit cards from Lloyds and have already had 2 successes: EGG loan - £720; RBS Credit Card - £52!!
Yours in anticipation,
S!
Well, it just so happens I have my letter here with the address for the DPA department :j

I got a shock today when a letter arrived from Bank of Scotland saying they were going to refund me all the PPI I paid on two loans and a credit card account. After being rejected by HFC Bank on a complaint I thought had a better chance of being upheld it was a major surprise and a very welcome one at that. All I have to do now is sign the acceptance forms and send back. I assume the final settlement details will be sent within a few weeks.
Thanks to all the forum experts for your help. I will be taking my HFC Bank case to the FOS next week and I expect to win that as they reasons they gave for not upholding my complaint were utter BS. I will keep you posted on that.
Scott
Well done Scott and Congratulations!:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I had my offer letter on 3rd August and returned the same day from Black Horse. Interest was calculated up to today and the letter states that "the interest has been calculated at 8% simple on each payment made towards the cost of the policy calculated from the date that we received the payment to the date that we pay the redress. This has been calculated to a date 4 weeks from now to allow us sufficient time to process the refund on the assumption that you return the acceptance confirmation to us within the next two weeks".
Well, As I said before the letter was returned on the 3Rd August by recorded delivery (it was dated 29th July) the money is not yet in my account, surprise surprise, so I finally arrive at my question lol, do the banks pay via BACS or faster payment as the payment is not showing as going in on Tuesday either ( which my wages are which are paid by BACS).
I requested it was paid direct to my account as the loan is still current so was given the option of my account or cheque.
Sorry for rattling on0 -

Wow that's a fantastic amount!! I have 3 other complaints in with the FOS. Two for store cards and one for Paragon Finance. To be honest, I've no chance but you can but try! Didn't expect to win this one either so was a lovely surprise.
Waiting on a response from Barclays too. Should hear by 31st Aug. It was a credit card from 1996 to about 2005. Limit was only ever £300 but was always maxed out (crazy lifestyle - it was a student cc though lol). no idea what would expect to get on that. Wonder if PPI is a set amount each month or based on the balance. Hmmm0 -

RosieBrock wrote: »Farcove it would seem to me you have a point here. Would be interesting to track Barclays results from May as they come in. What were the reasons for your claim to them if you don't mind me asking?
Rosie,
The reasons I gave was that I was working less than 16hours perweek. PPI was never explained to me and I wasn't aware it had been added until I closed the card in 2009.
In the letter they sent me they said it was explained to me and that the PPI is still active !
To be honest, it seems like a standard letter and I will be interested to see how many claims submitted after April are upheld.
