Hi, as I understand it (might be wrong) with loans you get the 8% as the figures are known from the outset, but with credit cards as the PPI figure varies month-to-month according to balance then it is calculated with the Contractual interest and then 8% on top. Contractual interest being the rate charged on the card balance each month. Please forgive me if I am wrong but that's how I understand it.
Yeah youre right, they go back to the start to your first ppi charge, refund it with any interest at card rate charged to your account, if it takes your account into credit you get 8% on that, if it doesn't get you into credit, you dont get the 8%, but the card rate is normally way more than that.

They have to do this to every ppi charge ever put onto your credit card account, hence why some succesful complaints have been upheld to the tune of over £20k.:D
Thanks to all the competition posters.

    Barclaycard (Goldfish) fail!
Had letter this morning saying claim Not upheld. Have had Goldfish card (now Barclaycard since 1995 - my Barclaycard actually states that I am a Founder Member! I was paying a % of my outstanding balance every month and I can't remember agreeing to this. It would seem that you had to opt out on the application form. Anyway Barclaycard say they can't find anything about paying this proctection and have closed the case. I haven't got a copy application form - I filled in a form years ago (out of a magazine I think) and sent it off in the post. In 2005 I had to have a new account number due to fraudulent entry appearing on my account. The number again changed when Barclaycard took over. Where do I go from here as I know I was paying a different amount every month depending on the balance. I haven't used the card for about two years but account still open. HELP!

    Hi Guys

Well, I have just had a huge surprise. Lloyds have sent me letters confirming that, while they have no details of my loans, they are willing to make a gesture payment of £1200 on each of them!!:j:j

It says if I have details of the start and end dates of my loans on statements etc, they can work out any further redress. Now, my loans are from 1996 and 1998 so I have absolutely nothing however I did try to get my docs from the DPA Department. They said they don't have anything but just confirmed the years they started.

I have emailed Lloyds to advise the year the loans were taken out and that they were over 5 years and asking to work out any further monies owed to me.

Does this seem fair? Am still happy with my offer regardless as was waiting on a big fat no!!

    Well done Julie.

Lloyds are currently dealing with my 2 very old ones from the mid 90's, I know for sure these had ppi, I emailed them to ask for the details and confirmation if ppi and a few days later they got back with the account numbers and confirmed ppi.
No harm in giving it a go with whatever info you do have, good luck.

Did you see your letter ? My hubby was on the phone and the guy he spoke to said providing we haven't claimed ( we Haven't) or missed a payment (we haven't, just had a repayment holiday) we would get back the ppi we paid plus 8%. Hubby is worried he wont get anything as we took a repayment holiday.

Don't worry, it will make no difference if a holiday repayment was taken.;)
    Well done!
