Hi All,
Bit of advice please i took out an Egg loan in 2006 for £17k which i still have today, in 2009 i call to re finance the loan and the agent mentioned about my ppi i advised i didnt remember taking it up and asked for it to be cancelled which he did, i only recently came across these forums and emailed egg to advise i wished to complain and wanted reimbursed.
Within a couple of days i got a letter to confirm receipt of the complaint then 2 days later i got a futher letter advising the complaint would be investigated and that due to new rules they had 16 weeks to complete the investigation but that i would get a decision by December 8th.
Having read these forums my question is that a lot of people use templates on the site which i only discovered once i sent the email
would using one of these enhance my case or is the email sufficent or is there anything else i should have included in the email to support my case or is it down to egg to prove the ppi wasnt mis sold?0 -

It was very easy, I followed the tips on money saving expert, sent my first letter off for t & c's which took 2 weeks for a response.
In the response they also provided me with a copy of my original signed agreement which clearly showed a tick in the NO box for PPI.
Once I had recieved this, I sent a copy of the Ombudsman questionare, along with a copy of the signed agreement and a covering letter which I found on Google.
8 weeks later I recieved a letter offering compensation.
I am very happy with my result and it was the best £1 I have ever spent. :rotfl:0 -

On the loan that you refinanced and cancelled the ppi on, you should give this loan number too,as the ppi on the first loan after the small rebate on settlement (you settled this to take the new loan) would have been carried over onto the refinanced loan, you should get this back.
I would give Egg a ring and ask if they are looking at both loans.0 -
After reading so many stories of heartache, hard word and frustration on here my claim has been embarrassingly easy. One 2 minute call to Halifax about 3 months ago. I had a letter yesterday saying I'd be getting ALL the PPI I'd paid refunded.
I post this to point out that my loans/claims were well over 6 years ago. I had 6 loans over 5 years from 1999-2004, I had no loan or account numbers when I called, I had no paperwork what so ever. The call I made was a bit of a whim to be honest, you don't ask, you don't get! I have no idea how much I'll be receiving, £10, £100, £1,000???
I just want to say a massive thank you to all the fighters out there who made this possible. Thanks.0 -
I've been a keen spectator of this forum and thanks to Money Saving Expert put in a PPI claim to Lloyds TSB back in April, they ignored me, so I sent them another letter which threatened the FOS to which they sent me a "we're looking into your complaint" letter. It's been months now since I heard from them so I decided to call them this morning for an update. They're sending me a letter with a settlement of £1948ish for PPI that cost about £1200 over 5 years. Not sure if that's the correct amount as I haven't got my paperwork, but it sounds near enough so I'm quite pleased
The sooner they send it to me, the sooner I close my account with them.SPC = £15.54 #1413
£2 challenge = £22
DEBT =[STRIKE]£5030[/STRIKE] £4488.50 (10%)0 -

Morning all.
I've just opened a letter from First Direct, I was expecting a bank statement but instead it is a "nice" letter that says UPHELD on 2 loans. Nice surprise as I put 1 complaint in in May (FD found another loan and added it to the complaint) and the 16 weeks isn't up until end of sept. No calculations yet but should be 28 days for the cheque.
I feel a pair of new shoes (or a handbag) calling my name!!
