Barclays Update
Been checking my account every morning and nothing, so spent 78mins on hold this afternoon and finally got through. However, the lady I spoke to at first couldnt find my acceptance letter (despite me being told on 19th that they had received it and scanned it into their systems on 9th August). She then searched on my postcode and found it - however (yet again) the reason that they have not made a payment is that the acceptance letter was not scanned onto my case and the status was still showing as "waiting on customer). She did apologise and said she would change the status and send an urgent email to the payment team requesting that they make the payment tomorrow (should be in my account 4-5 working days from then) which surprise surprise takes it to the 31st August (the deadline)!! She has also promised to call me back tomorrow to confirm that the payment has been made (holding my breath, crossing my fingers, etc).
I really didnt want to keep calling them especially as I had already had confirmation that the had received my acceptance and didnt want to clog the line for other people to try and get through but think the moral of my story is that you have to keep on at them and remember to get the name of the person you are speaking to.
As soon as the payment hits my account, I will post an update with smilies!!!
Good luck to everyone else with their claims
Oh so Barclays are paying out into people accounts, I have made a claim and I have a Barclays account... I will keep checking. No thatI think they will pay out anything earlier than the deadline dates..... I have been on their case, no surrender!0 -
Hi just recieved letter to say our complaint hasn't been upheld as my husband back in 1996 ticked the box on the application form to say he wanted ppi.
They are satisfied that my husband actively chose to purchase ppi and understood it was optional when he did so.
No one actually spoke to him or explained what ppi was.
He just returned an application form. He assumed he had to have it back then, as he wouldn't be excepted if he hadn't got it.
We only canceled it 3 years after realising with all the media we didn't need it!!!
Anyway my question is MBNA have said we can take it to ombudsman if we're not happy. Does anyone think its worth it as he did tick the box afterall.
Any similar stories with good outcomes.
Thanks in advance for any help.

On the acceptance form, it does ask for bank details where they can make the payment to, ie. account name, sort code and account number or you could tick the box for a cheque.0 -

Hi all
Just an update. Rang Egg the other day as have two credit card complaints outstanding, and should have heard by the 19th August.
Egg advised me that our complaints are in a rather large pile waiting for Barclays to make final decisions, and they should make this by the 31st August. Not long now then I guess, but what a lot still to do.0 -
