1.30th july received an offer letter dated 26th july for 4,500 and if i was happy with offer need not do anything if they don't here from me then they will process the refund into my account
2.1st august rang them to find out how long the process would take the gentleman said they wait 7 days for me to reply if not happy and then another 21days for the money to be transferred into my account so in total 28 days none of this was stated in the letter
3.post came this morning got all excited because i have another 3 claims with them and that is due by 31st august when i opened it it was a loan statement for a current loan i have it shows that they took my regular payment on 1st august then it shows 975.00 received on 2nd august i phoned up to find out what was going on and to be told that they had taken it out of my final settlement i told him that how dare they do that i was told in the letter that all monies would be refunded back to my account he apoligised and said that he would email the refund department and tell them to refund it all to me so my grievience is that they didnot even wait 3 days to take some of my money to pay off my loan but i have to wait 28 days for the rest of it to hit my account they are making us wait unneccessarily

Her APR is approx 20% and her balance has been appox £3000-5000 over the past 14years.
She has told me the PPI is and has been approx £20 per month.
I have tried using the calculators but am getting rather confused, so can someone please help me work out if she was successful how much could she have returned if she claims.
I want to convince her that she must do this as she is still a bit sceptical with the whole PPI miselling and how you can claim your money back.
Thanks in advance.:)
Hi there
Hopefully someone will be here to check these later or tomorrow (Friday), show you're sister this site.:D;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

My situation is that i took out a 4k personal loan with the Cooperative bank in 2004 to be repaid over 5 years. 2years into the repayments i badly needed money so i renewed that loan and went back to square 1,now with a 4.7k borrowing figure, spreading the payments over 7 years. on both occasions PPI was bolted on. in 2007 i settled this situation when i consolidated with another outfit.
i have now started proceedings to claw back those PPI payments, using the advice i got here as a phantom viewer.sent a letter and completed forms to the Co-op last week. Received acknowledgement of receipt from them yesterday. i dont know how long i will have to wait for the process to conclude, and hopefully in my favour. I just thought I would share my little story. thank you.
Hi there
Thank you for posting this up and wishing you luck on your reclaiming.
They normally have up to 8 weeks, but will write if they need more time.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi, Could anyone help please? Have 2 old store cards with Ge Capital Bank, does anyone have the address for them or email address? Thank you in advance.
Hi there I think Santander are dealing with GE Capital now, but if you send your complaint to these, I'm aware they will forward it on to Santander anyway, this happened in my son's case.
If you decide as well to use hardcopy post, I would suggest to use signed for/recorded delivery as your proof of posting, good luck.

You could though contact the FOS to make sure on this who will make sure you get this right first time round, or even ask if they can write on your behalf.

Brilliant well done, do u mind me asking what date u complained I have 2 currently with M&S, one sent early June for a 5k loan, and one sent mid to late June for a storecard.
Hi LynK, I submitted my PPI consumer questionnaire in February. they have been quite slow to respond to each letter, but have been very reasonable throughout.
If only I wasn't such a skinflint after reading this website I would have some serious fun with my newly liberated £3200! Oh well, I'll just have some increased sense of wellbeing from sticking it in my ISA0 -
hi all, I am still awaiting my offer letter from HSBC which is due in the next 4 wks so fingers crossed on that one but since claiming against the loan I took out with them I have realised that my vanquis credit card company have been charging £50 a month for a ppi that I was totally unaware of! I have wrote to the company approximately 8 wks ago but have had no response. Does anybody have the email address for the CEO of vanquis and has anybody had any joy with claiming with them?0

If anyones interested, you can find a calculator to work out how much interest you have paid for each PPI premium HERE
One thing to consider is the order in which your particular credit card agreement applies payments
There was an article on MSE some time ago with regard to this, in as much as it appeared most credit cards allowed the bank to apply payments to the lowest interest items first, so for example:
Balance of £5000, consisting of £3500 purchases, £1000 cash withdrawals and £500 balance transfers
Interest rates:
0% Balance transfer
17% purchases
19.5% cash withdrawals
Any payment made by debtor applied in the following order:
Balance transfer
Purchases
Withdrawal
So, the highest interest item is paid off last
I have been through several of my credit card agreements but cannot find one that states where in the order of payment PPI premiums sit (or for that matter the rate at which interest will be charged upon them)
This has only just got me to think IF they charge say, the "purchases" interest rate on PPI premiums, how do they justify that if the PPI premiums are not shown as interest bearing within the agreement (as from what I can see, you would not readily place them under either the "purchases", "balance transfers" or "cash withdrawals" titles?)
Very interesting post
I have tried the link however the calculator doesn't seem to work or maybe its my scrambled brain
What figures are you putting where ?
My understanding of the latest situation is that they are supposed to take off the highest interest first although this didn't happen on a Natwest card until I challenged it and got it refunded
Having looked at my Cap one statements from what I can understand the interest charged as ppi appears lower than either purchases or cash advances at say 8 or 9% but as it seems to be applied after they have already applied the other interest one could argue it is considerably higher. take your example
17% purchases
19.5% cash withdrawals
add 9% ppi
26% purchases
28.5% cash withdrawals
but they wouldn't do that, would they ?0
