Got an offer today of just over £1800 from HFC (for an old GM Card taken out in 1994).

Very happy with that :D £1000 goes into my savings account, the rest will let me make some big changes to my garden.

Thanks to everyone on the forum for posting about your own experiences, it helped me enormously.

And since I didn't use a claims company, this cost me one letter and a stamp!

Well done Dr Squeeze, that is fab news!:T Congratulations!

It wouldn't have been online, more likely a free application form in a newspaper about 12+ years ago. I have tried to see if I can find a copy of an application form that I may have filled in but there seems to be so many.

I have also been told that taking them to court can be more rewarding as the FOS are more likely just to claim the premium + 8% any thoughts on this and how you go about things?

    Hiya

I see, nothing would surprise me that 12 years or more ago the PPI was added automatically, hopefully someone who have had direct dealings with EGG around that time will have the correct answers for you on this and will post up soon.

I have never gone the court route to be honest, but did assume it worked out the same, then I could be wrong.:o;)

well done on your win can i ask when did you put your claim in to hfc and was it through fos?
  • Question: Does Mortgage Repayment Protection come under the same thing?

I have MRP with Natwest and just wondered if there is a potential claim there too

Anyone had any joy with Nationwide or Tesco Loans, I sent off all details to them and Northern Rock at the beginning of June and although they have both sent 2 letters saying they are looking into it I cant find any information on here as to how long they will actually take to give a decision.

For information Northern Rock agreed my claim within 5 weeks and I am now just stuck in the 28 days payment promise for my cash from them, I have to say I am very impressed with the service and letters to this point from them.

    Hi

    I've had success with Nationwide.

I put my claim in on 1st June 2011, I had an acknowledgement letter from them 4 days later, my offer letter within 4 weeks, and the cheque turned up yesterday (5 weeks after my offer letter) - so just over 9 weeks in total

Hope that gives you an idea of the timeframe they're working to, although every case is different so don't blame me if it takes longer! :rotfl:
    Nationwide Loan - Success - £2,596.24 - 8 weeks Egg CC - Success - £99.51 - 2 weeks Lloyds CC - Success - £1,151.27 - 16 weeks & 2 days
Lloyds Loan - Success - £186.17 -Waiting for payment Virgin CC - Rejected - but 23 days into re-opened complaint - update overdue

Hi, Congrats on your success! Have you got a template for the letter you wrote to Barclays? This would be very helpful for me. Good luck on the other 2 PPI loans!!

    Hi and thanks
I just wrote an email to barclays complaints (via barclays web site) stating why I was unhappy with the PPI and the reasons it was mis-sold (I was angry at the time as they made it very difficult for me to cancel, when I went into my branch, they were trying to insist that I needed it. I am a housewife and carer with other life and critical illness insurance etc). I also filled in the FOS reclaim questionaire on this site and sent that to them (I think that it is step 3 in the reclaim PPI bit) but I am sure DI or someone could post you the link, as I am not sure how to.

Also, have you seen the explosion of ads on telly for ppi claim companies? I feel as if I have been mugged and scammed.Although it will pay off the card balance,it will use up all of the remainder paying the fee (if It ever gets here).
My thoughts exactly. I got a cold call from a company offering to reclaim for me so I agreed for them to send me their claim pack. They do make it look very simple but this particular company were going to take 39% of any upheld claims!

Thanks to all for your kind posts. I would have responded earlier but have been down the pub (ahem!) with the wife.

Throughout this process I've found the key to getting the right result is tenacity. The banks will try to stall and draw out the process but they know ultimately that they will have to settle legitimate claims. But, and this is a big BUT, that tenacity has only come from the brilliant advice of the long serving posters on this forum.

Before I started the process of reclaiming I thought I didn't stand a chance of getting a result and today I am pinching myself at what has happened.

So to all who are waiting, starting or considering a claim, follow through, don't give up and keep trying, you will succeed.

And sincere thanks to the 'sage' posters of the forum who give the advice, support and va va voom to get the results of which I have benifited from.

Now I really must go and lie down. Good night to all.
You are most welcome :D some need a bigger kick up the behind than others :p:p but the end result is the same :beer:
Well done on your win :T:T:T

My bill is in the post :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    New user.

Well done to everyone today. I am new to this and feel that I will be requiring lots of help from all you specialists out there. I have started the process and requested my agreements details for 2 Loans From the Dreaded Lloyds TSB. The first one has my signature on the loan PPI but the ticks in the boxes are computer generated. Would this matter as they never explained to me that the Insurance was optional or that I could get insurance elsewhere. I stupidly assumed it was the norm.

The second one again with Lloyds is a bit strange as they have sent me a blank agreement form and stated

'There is no requirement under the CCA to provide you with a copy of your signed agreement but please be assured we would not have advanced a loan without having sight of a signed agreement.'

Again on this one no one explained to me about PPI and being a bit poor with money issues thought that it wasnt an option.

One last question. Ages ago I stupidly took out an agreement with with YES CAR CREDIT, or better known as Direct Auto Finance. Because this was so long ago, and before they were regulated, i was wondering if this is a lost cause as i have searched everywhere on the forums and the internet and can't find anyone with anyjoy. (apologies in advance if I have posted this in the wrong bit).

    Thanks

    Mark

Hi there,if you have the account numbers for the Lloyds loans, and have reasons for mis sell
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step2

    Then put a claim in.
Regarding the car loan, you will need to find out who the insurer was and put a claim into them,if they come back with a no,you can take this to FOS.
