Am I right in syaing there may have been a tick box on the aplication form to opt out of PPI, and just because I didn't tick it doesn't mean I can't claim back.

I have another CC which doesn't have PPI on so I obviously don't actively look for the option of with or without.

    Hi there

If the account was sold online, there should be an opt out, because its known to have already been added, where you can choose to untick, but not everyone are aware of that, and assumed it was all part of the package.

    (Se that word?!)

HFC written today to say they are upholding a friends claim I placed for him, no word on how much as they are yet to calculate but its a start (should be substantial - 2 x HFC and 1 x Beneficial! - all from at least 5 years ago so 8% ought to be a sum worth having)

    :D:D

That will soon add up then :T Congrats to you're friend.

Has any one had a Claim rejected by the FOS? and if so Why?

    Hi

The Adjudicator will look at 2 sides when investigating, so reason on rejection can vary.

They will take into consideration the complainants reasons, then see what the other side have to come back with.

I do have a rather complexed case, and it have recently been rejected after a few years sitting with the FOS, it's now going to be fully reviewed by the ombudsman, where I have had the opportunity to forward further submissions in support of my case.:)

Got an offer today of just over £1800 from HFC (for an old GM Card taken out in 1994).

Very happy with that :D £1000 goes into my savings account, the rest will let me make some big changes to my garden.

Thanks to everyone on the forum for posting about your own experiences, it helped me enormously.

And since I didn't use a claims company, this cost me one letter and a stamp!

Congratulations to all those who have won - been away for a couple of days so not been on here much!! But I understand lots are starting to get their money back now.

I received my "upheld" letter from Egg on 2/8/11 (already posted details on here) and have seen that they have already cleared my balance (they did this on 3/8/11). They stated in their letter that I would receive a cheque within7-10 days so any day now I am expecting a nice cheque from the balance.

I noted though that someone posted on here that once they have given you your offer they have another 8 weeks to pay up - will this be true of First Plus/Barclays. Egg are under this umbrella and yet they have already paid of my balance and stated that I will receive a cheque within 7-10 days. So its all a little confusing I think!!

    Hiya

Hope you've had a good few days away, and well done and Congratulations on your success.

However, I have not posted much over the last few days but catching up now and can see there have been a massive amount of wins.;)

It wouldn't have been online, more likely a free application form in a newspaper about 12+ years ago. I have tried to see if I can find a copy of an application form that I may have filled in but there seems to be so many.

I have also been told that taking them to court can be more rewarding as the FOS are more likely just to claim the premium + 8% any thoughts on this and how you go about things?
