Its been a good news day for me today.

Just been told by MBNA that my 2 claims (loan and credit card) have been upheld ! :-) However, they were unable to give me the amounts as the final calculations are going to be done later today. These date back to 1994.

Also, having rejected HSBC's offer last week because they had not included contractual interest, they have emailed me today to say my offer is being recalculated to include the contractual interest and they will advise me of the outcome asap.

Just waiting for figures now - hopefully they're nice ones !

I hope its massive, should be if the ppi prems have been taken regularly over 17 years. Heres to a eye popping post soon.

does anyone know if it goes against you if you have made a claim on your PPI????

    thanks

Put it this way they can not preclude a claim just because a payment has been made. They will take it off any redress if you win.

It should not have any effect at all.
    Oops :D:D sorry :o
I thought you meant will it affect your dealings with the bank?, i mis read this :D.

if you have made a claim on the insurance over the loan term,if you win redress then this will be taken off the redress, sometimes it could even out and you dont get anything back.

    Hi all,

Thanks to money saving expert I've had two success stories so far...

Egg - called and discussed my concerns of mis-selling, they said they would look into it and write to me, they did initially to say they were investigating then I got another letter upholding my claim and paying me £400.15!!! which had interest included. Very happy with that. :j

Santander (Debenhams Card) wrote a letter explaining reasons for PPI claim and mis-sell, got a response to say investigating then next letter upholding my claim (afet review sales call etc) and paying out £260!!! This went to my balance which should now be close to zero.
    :j
The not so good news - Santander (River Island Card) - got a letter yesterday saying that as I didnt cancel the policy during the 30 day cooling off period they wouldnt refund my PPI. They said we couldnt prove mis-sell based on pushy sales as it was 2003 and clearly no footage as sold in store. :(

Has anyone had similar? Should I pursue or leave it? I genuinely felt pressured to take the insurance and it was implyed at the time it would help the credit process.

    Thanks lots

Question: Does Mortgage Repayment Protection come under the same thing?

I have MRP with Natwest and just wondered if there is a potential claim there too

    Hiya

I am not sure, but I know its still reclaimable, dunstonh is the one who knows his stuff on mortgage insurance, if you want to post a separate thread below, still within the ppi reclaiming threads, then he will not miss this and give the correct answer and advice on this one for you.;)

    Hi

    I've had success with Nationwide.

I put my claim in on 1st June 2011, I had an acknowledgement letter from them 4 days later, my offer letter within 4 weeks, and the cheque turned up yesterday (5 weeks after my offer letter) - so just over 9 weeks in total

Hope that gives you an idea of the timeframe they're working to, although every case is different so don't blame me if it takes longer! :rotfl:

    Brilliant!:T Congratulations!

Good news today. From MBNA re an old Alliance n Leicester Card taken out in 2000. Not a massive amount I know, but enough to make me smile! Thanks again everyone for all your help! :)

The refund amounts are as follows:

Total amount of interest associated with the PPI premiums: £193.29
Total amount of 8% interest: £97.36
    Total amount payable: £540.33

    Hi and thanks
I just wrote an email to barclays complaints (via barclays web site) stating why I was unhappy with the PPI and the reasons it was mis-sold (I was angry at the time as they made it very difficult for me to cancel, when I went into my branch, they were trying to insist that I needed it. I am a housewife and carer with other life and critical illness insurance etc). I also filled in the FOS reclaim questionaire on this site and sent that to them (I think that it is step 3 in the reclaim PPI bit) but I am sure DI or someone could post you the link, as I am not sure how to.

    Hiya

Sorry for the delay in responding, yes that is correct, the actual reclaim questionnaire is on step 3 of reclaiming procedures.;)

Hi Started my PPI against MBNA last September, they put it on hold and I reffered it to FOS following this websites advices.

Just over a month ago the FOS wrote to me advising me that MBNA wish to now uphold my claim. I had to sign and return the from to the FOS.

In the letter the FOS state that MBNA have 8 weeks to calculate my claim and make an offer.

Has anoyne else had experinces of this, and does it really take them 8 weeks?

Presumabley they then have 4 weeks to issue a cheque as well?

    Many Thanks

    Hiya

    That is great news, Congratulations!

That is about right now, 8 weeks, also due to the backlog of these complaints and payouts.

    Well done.;)
