Hi forum

I posted yesterday about a settled claim from egg and today has been even better.

I sent a claim letter to MBNA but heard nothing for a while I then decided to email the CEO, it read:

I sent a letter reclaiming mis-sold card repayment protection insurance on the 9th July 2011 and as yet I have not received any acknowledgement of my claim.

I am disappointed that I have not been contacted in respect of the above as I am a long standing customer of some 17 years and the lack of response does not constitute good customer service.

I believe that I have a legitimate claim as throughout the time I have held an account with MBNA I have been self employed and the way in which I was sold the insurance was not in my best interests.

I respectfully request a response at your earliest convenience and sincerely hope you will look into why a long standing customer has been treated in such a lax and nonplussed fashion.

They responded within a day and the matter was passed to a claims manager who said they would respond in seven days.

I hadn't heard anything so I sent an email today asking if I could expect a response, to cut a long story this is the reponse I got:

I can confirm that your complaint has been upheld.
    The refunds are as follows:

Total amount of PPI premiums charged since sale date: £4,869.74
Total amount of interest associated with the PPI premiums: £17,359.88
Total amount of 8% interest: £1,476.72

    Total amount payable: £23,706.34

They advised that a cheque would be sent within 28 days.

Its been a very good week to say the least!

Thanks to all again who have helped me get this result.

Now I need to lie down.

    Awesome well done

Still waiting on my response from lloydstsb regarding my two loans however did receive a letter from their dpa department.

Basically saying as my loans were 13 and 15 years ago they do not have copies of my original loan applications. They said they can see I had ppi attached to both loans but unable to give any further info relating to the ppi.

I'm guessing this isn't looking good for my complaint and I'm
So disappointed as I know I had it and know it was misold as had a benefits package at work that covered me for sick not
To mention I was not informed about it at all!!

Anyone think anything positive can come of this at all? :-(

Hi, I have heard of this before, but offers of goodwill have been made, so if they try rejecting, then suggest they make a reasonable offer.

    Good luck.;)

Woohoo first time i've been able to smile for a good reason in a while, I have a Bank of Scotland/halifax loan and i've got my proposed payment from them regarding the PPI refund, and i'm well chuffed.. :-) I'm glad I did it via this website from the forms, rather than use a lawyers office who were going to take a percentage..

Thanks Martin Lewis for this site yer a star.

    Brill! Congratulations!

That could be interesting seeing as I have already withdrawn £600 off the credit card!! I did receive a letter from Halifax today (photocopied!!) stating they would reimburse it ONTO my credit card or they might send a cheque in the next few days... we'll see what happens next!!

Thats exactly the same letter as they sent me!:rotfl:

And as i had a lil spend on it and then they took it back it put me over my limit and they blocked my card lol

I had the money put on on the saturday, by tuesday they had taken it back i realised thursday, called them friday and they explained it and cancelled a charge they had put on me going over my limit due to it being their fault but wont unblock the viewing of my cc until i pay the money it went over x

Thanks to all for your kind posts. I would have responded earlier but have been down the pub (ahem!) with the wife.

Throughout this process I've found the key to getting the right result is tenacity. The banks will try to stall and draw out the process but they know ultimately that they will have to settle legitimate claims. But, and this is a big BUT, that tenacity has only come from the brilliant advice of the long serving posters on this forum.

Before I started the process of reclaiming I thought I didn't stand a chance of getting a result and today I am pinching myself at what has happened.

So to all who are waiting, starting or considering a claim, follow through, don't give up and keep trying, you will succeed.

And sincere thanks to the 'sage' posters of the forum who give the advice, support and va va voom to get the results of which I have benifited from.

Now I really must go and lie down. Good night to all.

Well said Bodoni. I think when this is all over, the likes of Di, Amersall, cappo etc could be getting very close to being nominated for OBE's/MBE for serivces to their community. You guys need a special thanking. Especially when youread stories and amounts coming through from the likes of Bodoni here, and there are so so many others.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

Wow Well done, lucky you didn't go through a claims company, imagine having to give them 25% of that + VAT :)

    Thanks Di :-)

Do you think it's worth sending the £10 for my docs? They said they have nothing that will help my case and that I have to go into a branch to collect them even though I now live in Northern Ireland and I don't think there is any Lloyds over here.

Can they lie when you ask for details and just say they dont have them?
