Hi forum

I posted yesterday about a settled claim from egg and today has been even better.

I sent a claim letter to MBNA but heard nothing for a while I then decided to email the CEO, it read:

I sent a letter reclaiming mis-sold card repayment protection insurance on the 9th July 2011 and as yet I have not received any acknowledgement of my claim.

I am disappointed that I have not been contacted in respect of the above as I am a long standing customer of some 17 years and the lack of response does not constitute good customer service.

I believe that I have a legitimate claim as throughout the time I have held an account with MBNA I have been self employed and the way in which I was sold the insurance was not in my best interests.

I respectfully request a response at your earliest convenience and sincerely hope you will look into why a long standing customer has been treated in such a lax and nonplussed fashion.

They responded within a day and the matter was passed to a claims manager who said they would respond in seven days.

I hadn't heard anything so I sent an email today asking if I could expect a response, to cut a long story this is the reponse I got:

I can confirm that your complaint has been upheld.
    The refunds are as follows:

Total amount of PPI premiums charged since sale date: £4,869.74
Total amount of interest associated with the PPI premiums: £17,359.88
Total amount of 8% interest: £1,476.72

    Total amount payable: £23,706.34

They advised that a cheque would be sent within 28 days.

Its been a very good week to say the least!

Thanks to all again who have helped me get this result.

Now I need to lie down.

    Wow that is fantastic!!!!

Still waiting on my response from lloydstsb regarding my two loans however did receive a letter from their dpa department.

Basically saying as my loans were 13 and 15 years ago they do not have copies of my original loan applications. They said they can see I had ppi attached to both loans but unable to give any further info relating to the ppi.

I'm guessing this isn't looking good for my complaint and I'm
So disappointed as I know I had it and know it was misold as had a benefits package at work that covered me for sick not
To mention I was not informed about it at all!!

Anyone think anything positive can come of this at all? :-(

I would reply and tell them that you expect them to sort it or you will contact FOS.

If they know what the premiums were at any stage, they can calculate the overall PPI and then calculate a refund.

If they cannot find the loan agreements then you are more likely to get upheld as they cannot prove the sale was completed properly.

Seriously, write to them/email them with a strongly worded response saying that you find the situation wholly unacceptable and you expect them to sort it out.

Thanks for the response Ian :-)

I haven't had my complaints declined yet but this letter from their dpa department about my docs when I requested them seemed really negative so am guessing the complaints team will see their reply and go down the "too long ago and we've no details" route.

    :-((

I hate lloyds, worst bank I've ever been with.

Had no responses on my complaints and the others are those blooming store cards and one with paragon finance. Paragon are supposed to be a nightmare too. That ones with fos at mo.

Sorry for being so negative and congrats to all those upheld today especially that whooping £23 k one! Whoop whoop :-)
