Has anyone ever had PPI put on a loan with the Student Loan Company?

No success yet with my claims. So far:

    1) Waiting on response from Barclays (has *anyone* heard from them yet?)
    2) 2 Claims with Lloyds
    3) 3 with the FOS (just sent on Monday) one a loan with Paragon Finance and 2 with GE Money. From reading on here, it's not looking optimistic for the GE Money claims!

Congrats to all those with wins so far :j

I am still waiting a reply from Lloyds about two loans. Sent them an email and they are still looking into it. Felt really spurned on in June when I sent the questionairres as lots of people had had successess. Now I am feeling incredibly despondant as successes are not so great ...it appears and have a bad feeling it's gonna be a resounding no.:(

Yip, I'm waiting on them as well regarding two loans. I also feel quite pessimestic today and feel it's going to be a dirty big NO!!

Hi there, you have to give them the 8 weeks to look at this, you will then get a reply asking for more time and you must give this, they are dealing with cases that have been on hold for the jr first so please be patient, most people on here have been waiting since last year, you will get a result one way or the other.

If yours was sent in june, the FSA have given them more time to deal with claims, and you will get a resolution within 16 weeks.
Hang on in there and good luck x.

Dont think CP will deal with you now as she said they will wait for the FOS response.

Give FOS ring tomorrow, tell them that you have had a reply and you are not happy with this, (make sure that CP have not cancelled this insurance!)tell them this is an expensive life insurance (as you said) and although you could have cancelled this, you would have done if you had been told the true cost of this ppi and that it only covered you for 5 years but it would still be on the loan to term end with interest.

You do not believe you were given the full cost and implications of this ppi enough to have made an informed decision, had you been, you would not have taken it.

Tell the FOS all of this and it will help them in their decision.

Thank you...i have just emailed her again to say i have realized i will get little refund so not to cancel the PPI. I will contact the FOS tomorrow after work & let them know what has happened. Lindsay had sent me a second email to say she is posting out a cd of my conversation and to please listen to this and that the fact that the loan was a single premium does not mean it was mis sold this is just the type of Insurance the lenders were offering at the time.
I will ring the FOS tomorrow and see what happens next...thank you;)xx

How much did you get back: £950.50
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After first questionnaire
And then write your brief reclaim tale....

    Hi all,

Made my complaint to Egg around 6 weeks ago and yesterday recieved a cheque in the post for a full settlement plus interest. The loan ended around 2003 so I didnt really think I would get anything. Total settlement came to £950!

What were you reclaiming: credit card ppi from 1996 (i think)
    Who was the provider: HALIFAX
How much did you get back: £3,172.45
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Did the template letter and customer complaints form and rang up several times to check progress. They did offer in january for us to go to the FOS due to the delays but we sat tight.
And then write your brief reclaim tale: Started it in October 2010, sent all forms off and had several letters from HALIFAX stating usual, delays..looking into things...will hear back from us shortly. In January we had a letter stating due to the court case there was a delay, so we sat tight, didnt go to FOS. Got a letter last week saying it will be the 31st August until we heard anything..so we sat tight...got a letter today stating they were agreeing our case and cheque will be with us within 5 days!!!!!!

THANK YOU TO THIS BOARD! BEEN SO HELPFULL!

    Brilliant work!:T Congratulations!

    Santander / Debenhams Card Update

Card taken out in store during Feb 2002, claim sent end of April 2011, rejected straight away, FLA useless, FOS writing to the underwriter, e-mail to Santander CEO on Saturday, reply today and rejected again.

Basically any Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins, Burtons cards etc taken out prior to 14-01-2005 will nearly always be rejected by Santander and it's the underwriter who you will have to pursue for a complaint to be upheld. My underwriter, Finance Insurance Co. Ltd were written to by the FOS on 30-06-2011 and to date neither the FOS or myself have had a reply, although the Finance Insurance Co. Ltd's website clearly states that they response to all compliants within 5 working days!
I will never, never have a store card again! Santander basically stated that you signed the agreement so you should know what you are signing! Oh yes, that's why GE Money was fined £600,000 because their sales process was so poor and misleading, oooppps sorry that was after Jan 2005 and before then all their sales staff were totally correct and no one had a policy which was missold!
Let's hope that the underwriter plays ball!!!
    AAAAAAAAAaaaaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhhh!!!!

Keep at them, your doing a great job so far.;)

Thanks Amersall, the email address you gave me did the trick!

I emailed the CEO and just got this reply

I have been forwarded your email by Ian O’Doherty who has asked me to respond.

I can confirm that I have approved your cheque and this will be sent to you tomorrow.

You should receive this cheque by Friday or Saturday.

Please accept my apologies in the delay in receiving your cheque.
