What were you reclaiming: Egg Loan
Who was the provider: Egg
How much did you get back: £950.50
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After first questionnaire
And then write your brief reclaim tale....
Hi all,
Made my complaint to Egg around 6 weeks ago and yesterday recieved a cheque in the post for a full settlement plus interest. The loan ended around 2003 so I didnt really think I would get anything. Total settlement came to £950!:j:beer: Well done you :j
makes me giggle that mine is out-side of a 6 year cut off! when they paid out beyond that?? haha like to see that they are consistant:D:D:p Perfer et obdurai dolor hic tibi proderit olim

I know I have just had mine rejected for the 'its outside the 6 years' excuse! However my claim could be around £5500 so maybe that's the reason they're trying to fob me off hoping I'll go away!0 -

Totally agree with you, Santander have never presented any evidence other than the agreement. I will update the board if or when the underwriter gets back to me or the FOS.
I also filed a complaint against a storecard, Santander rejected it and by the sounds of it using standard text to all of us. I contacted the FOS and provided the them with the same Underwriters details as above. Decided to take a chance and emailed the CEO of Santander last night and they called me today and said they are seperate to Santander Cards Dept and they don't like to step on each others toes so they cannot get involved with my case but they will forward to Santander in Leeds and they will look into the methods used to decline my claim and get back to me.
They've told me if I'm not satisfied following that I can go to the FOS (which I have already anyway).
TBH reading other posts regarding GE Capital and storecards I think only one person has been sucessful thus far so I'm not holding out much hope.
I'll keep you posted.:j:j:j MY PPI JOURNEY :j:j:j

Santander / Debenhams Card Update
Card taken out in store during Feb 2002, claim sent end of April 2011, rejected straight away, FLA useless, FOS writing to the underwriter, e-mail to Santander CEO on Saturday, reply today and rejected again.
Basically any Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins, Burtons cards etc taken out prior to 14-01-2005 will nearly always be rejected by Santander and it's the underwriter who you will have to pursue for a complaint to be upheld. My underwriter, Finance Insurance Co. Ltd were written to by the FOS on 30-06-2011 and to date neither the FOS or myself have had a reply, although the Finance Insurance Co. Ltd's website clearly states that they response to all compliants within 5 working days!
I will never, never have a store card again! Santander basically stated that you signed the agreement so you should know what you are signing! Oh yes, that's why GE Money was fined £600,000 because their sales process was so poor and misleading, oooppps sorry that was after Jan 2005 and before then all their sales staff were totally correct and no one had a policy which was missold!
Let's hope that the underwriter plays ball!!!
AAAAAAAAAaaaaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhhh!!!!
this still confuses me greatly i had a reply back from santander regarding my ppi on a burtons menswear card which i took back in 1996 they sent a letter back apologising but i did have a chance to cancle the ppi within 30 days of taking the card on and if i was a full time student it was a breadwinner policy so my partner at the time (i didnt have one) would of been able to claim! it also said that they could only take the case thurther if i could show them evidence of me being a full time student on the date i took out the store card and that i wasnt paying national insurance contributions so ive spent the last month applying and waiting for this evidence from hm revenue and customs to come through finaly got it through yesterday and sent it off to santander yesterday morning, now if this woman who is looking into my case just turns around and still tells me no after everything ive done i will be livid!!!! they havent said anything to me about it not being covered prior to 2005!! so what the hells going on then??0 -

There's another thread somewhere where someone took out a storecard in 1996/1997 and made a claim that the PPI wasn't explained properly and no advice given by the sales assistant regarding a cooling off period and Santander upheld her claim and are sending her a refund. This is what annoys me as they are not consistent in their reasoning for saying yes to some and no to others.
Stick with it. If we keep harrasing them they may cave in.
Wishful thinking I know.
Off to get a Twix. I need chocolate.:j:j:j MY PPI JOURNEY :j:j:j

I'll that everyone know what the underwriter's reply is to the FOS letter. Avoid anything that involves GE Money or GE Capital:mad:0 -
Hi everyone, and sorry if going ver old ground....I have had a second letter from the Halifax stating that I will have a reply within 16 weeks from date they recieved my complaint. Is this normal for the Halifax?
Also had a further letter back from NRAM (Northern Rock) stating they have not resolved my query and will write to me again soon!
Shall I follow both these up with phone calls?
THANKS !0 -

Yes, this is normal for Halifax.
I sent mine on 11 May, so 16 weeks ironically is the 31 August.
They have to respond by this date, but can respond sooner.
I have called them and my claim is complex and they are still waiting for all of the info on the 7 loans and 1 credit card :rotfl:I'm a secret crime fighter0
