    Good luck

    Hi!

Well done on your result!!! :j

Along with a lot of others I've had a knock back from Debenhams and my card was also from 1997 and I thought I had good reasons for complaint.
Can I ask if you had the original agreement or other evidence and what your reasons for mis-sell were? (sorry if that is too cheeky of me to ask and please feel free to ignore!)

Thanks so much for your help!

Actually just looked again and I took my card out in 1996, but near enough!!

I didnt have the original agreement of the card number but I was told it would help me get the card if I took out the ppi . I just put this in my letter. Also told them I wasnt told about any cancelation period and asked if I had any pre exisiting medical conditons . Just put all this in my letter . I hope this helps

Wow! Many thanks for the info, this is invaluable as Santander flatly refused my claim purely on the fact they were not covered under the FOS prior to 2005. I also stated the same reasons and have since found that an existing medical condition was not covered in the insurance anyway. Santander have also told the FOS that they wouldn't pay because they weren't covered until 2005. With you winning with a card taken out in 1997 there is no reason why they are being selective on claims. A letter will be winging it's way to the FOS on Monday:rotfl:

My reasons are also very similar if not the same! Can I ask what you are going to say in the letter to FOS?
Was just wondering if the same person dealt with our complaints!!

    Thank you so much!!

I was told that as my account is closed they couldn't find the credit agreement but the insurance would have only been added to the account upon my acceptance (I don't think so!!) I also stated that I wasn't asked about any pre-existing medical conditions or told that the PPI was optional.
I'll be sending this to the FOS now. Thanks again for your help, it is really good of you to reply.:)

I've been trying to seek the CEO details, not come across them yet, but wonder if any of these contact numbers are of any use to you perhaps? keep at them, fingers crossed.

If I do find the email addy I will post them up.:)

I too am pursuing Lombard Direct and found out that they are infact a trading name of RBS, the CEO for RBS is Stephen Hester.

    Good luck!

Basically, as the only reason my claim was rejected by Santander was that it took place before the 2005 cut off date and that there is at least one claim been rewarded from 1997 with the same reasons for mis-selling they have set the president and will find it hard to justify selective awarding of claims. I am going to ask the FOS to again ask Santander to justify the selective manner of awarding claims when the reasons for mis-selling are the same.

I have requested for some details of my old 2 loans via Lloyds by email, if this fails, I will call into the branch.
I have however made successful reclaims on all the other loan ppi's with them with loans as from late 1999 onwards, about 7 loans with them so far and credit card ppi.

My SAR info only goes back to late 1999, but I do have a few bits of paperwork found in the attic about 2 loans taken out as stated 1996 to 1998. They show the monthly amounts, but the acc numbers are very faded as such annoying really, so I am hoping with the info I supplied they will track these down, even by microfiche if I'm lucky.;)

Just a thought but would it be worth e-mailing the CEO and asking for him to look into the decisions being made on these cards due to inconsistencies and suggesting they are reviewed before we go to FOS.
