Dizzywithmoney wrote: »Hi - came home from work today to a shock letter from HSBC!!! I wasnt expecting anything from them until 14/7/11 as that was the next date I was due an update, and then was only expecting a "8 more weeks" type letter but they have made me an offer! They said they are only going back 6 years and if I had any statements or proof this account went on longer they would look at it!! But alas I havent (account was opened around 1999/2000 but dont keep statements) but nevermind - its all money we wouldnt have had if it hadnt been for Martin Lewis and this site. They have offered me £1430 - which is very nice thank you HSBC!!!
I am wondering though they have asked which bank account I want this money paid into (I requested my HSBC bank account cos I thought it might go in quicker) but I do wonder if they will pay off some arrears on the credit card and not put it into my bank. I am hoping that with them asking about which account I want it in they might pay it straight in to my account - we could just do with a bit of spare money at the moment with husband being on short time working, etc.
Anyway I am pleased we have got our first offer and sooner than expected!!! Thanks everyone fo your help. I will keep you informed of the rest of our claims.
By the way I signed the form and went straight out again to post it off!!! Then afterwards I thought maybe I should have sent it recorded but the post office would have shut by then and the post box I put it in had a late pick up!!
If they have asked for the account you want this paid into, then you get this and they wont take any off for anything else.0 -
just as a heads up. Im waiting for my CHQ as part of my refund on PPI from MBNA. When I got the letter last month it stated the chq would follow within 28 days. Ive been on the phone to them as its passed 28 days and no chq.
MBNA have a big backlog of chqs to send out, and they say the chqs are about 1 month behind, so dont panic if your chq does not arrive within the 28 days, its just becaise of the big payouts its taking longer than usual0 -
Hi, thanks, the loan was Beneficial Bank which then became HFC (I believe), the bank account I held was with the Halifax.0

HSBC Loan ppi Update
Loan ppi complaint received by HSBC on April 27th. Received the 4 week letter and then the 8 week letter and then shortly after a letter stating they were aiming to resolve the compliant by 22nd July. I chased it yesterday and they stated no such letter was sent! I telephoned them again this morning and the response was that they now have 16 weeks to resolve the complaint and the 22nd July date has now changed to the full 16 weeks. I pointed out the the FSA gave HSBC the extention on the 16 June and my letter was dated the 24 June so after the extention. Had I not phoned and chased I would have been waiting for the 22nd July expecting the complaint to be finished but the reality is that they were never going to meet that date. So a complaint for mis-selling gets a letter that is misleading!! I have been with HSBC for nearly 20 years and this is the service you receive. I would be grateful if anyone has the e-mail address for the CEO as I'm so fed up with the service I'm getting from them.0 -

Many thanks for this much appreciated!:)
If anyone wants to know which bank treats their customers with respect and fairness look no further than the posts on this forum. It seems that some banks are processing claims within a month with offers while others are hiding behind the 16 weeks and dragging it out to the exact timescales. If you miss a credit card payment you get telephones calls all day long and get charged £12. Banks change dates and don't keep promises and don't get any charges .0
