  • I had a loan with alliance and leceister that I took out 5 years ago. When I took the loan out I was really desperate for the money so felt very pressured by the sales person to take the insurance out. I sent a letter to them explaining this about 6 weeks ago and I have just received a letter from them offering to refund me all the payments I had made, plus 8% interest. All together £2,500!

Thanks Martin, this site is amazing, normally I'm rubbish at writing letters/complaining, but it has just made me see what a little bit of time can accomplish:T

  • Hi there
Just thought I would mention it and for anybody who are waiting to hear.
In August I received settlement letter from FOS regarding Hbos ppi, no calculations as yet, Last Friday 7th Nov I contacted Fos, case closed, but was told normally 6-8 weeks timescale, now 8-12 weeks, so maybe end of November. At present trying to be patience

  • I read Martin's article and thought I will give that a go. So 1 Friday afternoon I used the templates provided and sent off my letter claiming I had been missold a PPI policy on my 2 previous loans with HSBC - it was never explained that they would be taken out as a single payment.

It took them the full 8 weeks to reply and then they were claiming they needed more time to investigate matters further. I duly got a letter of rejection which basically said if I was stupid enough to sign the paperwork with the figures on then what did I expect.

I sent another letter pointing out that the sales advisor had failed to point this out to me when explaining the figures. That I had not been advised that I could cancel the policy in 14 days (although I did ask). I stood my ground and questioned their customer service records. I also questioned the integrity of my PPI on the previous loan which was re-structured into this new loan and 4 weeks later I got a letter confirming that I was to receive a refund of £10.4K!!!

That's not all - they allowed me to cancel the existing PPI policy on my existing loan with another loan re-structure which knocked another £8K off that repayment figure.

Happy Days! All for spending a couple of hours writing and sending 2 letters and standing my ground over their normal written response.

Go for it and if you have re-structured one loan with PPI to another one also with PPI then claim back both!

    TOOK 8 WEEKS IN TOTAL

    RECEIVED £1650

I have had already successfully claimed back £2700 early in the year for some loans I had years ago. So I thought I would proceed to do my partners, he didn't think he had ever had it, but I know these banks and they assumptively sell everything, everybody has targets to meet, but at there customers expense, hmmm, doesn't seem right, does it??
So I sent an email 8 weeks ago, they replied 4 weeks later saying they needed longer, so waited another 4 weeks, which they are entitled to, and this morning received an offer of the above with the 8% interest on top.
To everyone out there, give it ago, I promise you won't lose anything and it doesn't cost you a penny. Banks are making millions out of us, so stand up for yourself, and try and get back what is yours.:money:

I have today received a letter from Halifax that they will send us a cheque for £258.22 for our secured loan 4 years ago. :j

Marshallka I have not sent a letter to them regarding our recalculation as has been busy at work. I'll try to do it this weekend if I have the chance or early next week.

I will also post the loan statement in here for our secured loan to find out if we did get the right settlement once I can upload it.

    Hi all and marshallka,

    Here's my secured loan statement.

This is the settlement figure I've got from Halifax:

Refund of premium paid to date =£187.44
Interest for compensation at 8% =£70.78
    Total =£258.22

I hope you can have a go at this figures for me. Once again thank you very much.

  • I stumbled across this site a year ago. I read Martins article about reclaiming PPI. I incorporated one of Martins templates with my own information and sent off a letter of complaint.
I recieved a reply within days and a full refund on my PPI and with interest within a couple of weeks.

I recieved a total of £2800 from the Alliance and Leicester. This was a loan taken out in 2004 and they pressured me into taking out PPI even though I didnt want it them saying I would not get the loan without it. Anyway happy days thanks to this site for a misold PPI.
