That's good to know as I'm just starting on the case of getting a refund with Egg - I too was told over the phone that I HAD to have the PPI.

Aye, I was a little concerned that some people have been declined with a CD containing the actual phone conversation, but even though it was several years ago I recalled it was a pressured sale... chances are they have every recording, and some of the conversations may be obvious even to them that it was implied the PPI would help with the loan application.

    Good luck, hope you succeed.
  • Hiya, yours sounds exactly as my case, I was told it could take 3-6 months or 6-9 months however, this month is a year. GE Money do tend to drag their feets ie not responding in the timescale given or their have not sent over all documentation that has been requested. I will be fighting this to the bitter end and so should you (don't give up) this is our money and I too can do with it right now what with Xmas around the corner and I could pay off a few of my debts. Hang on in there, I will let you know when I get my payout. Have a great day x

Are you claiming PPI back or contesting the actual loan
From Swift contesting the loan and both from GE Money

    RE: GE MONEY

hi massive, am also having problems with GE Money. I too have been claiming via a solicitor and GE are just not responding. My solicitors have given them extended time but GE are ignoring all requests. I have 2 complaints with them and mine have been ongoing since april. I was initially given a timescale of approx 6-9 months. although this was approx I don't forsee an outcome for quite some time. It's very disappointing as i'm in financial difficulty and could really do with the money.
good luck with yours massive and keep us updated as I will also.

    • What were you reclaiming: PPI on a £5000 loan
    • Who was the provider: Alliance & Leicester
    • How much did you get back: All the PPI paid plus 8% interest as recommended by the Financial Ombudsman Total: £420.86!!
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: I got the offer back just by sending the letter template on this website, no hassles, threats etc.
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
In such difficult financial times myself and my husband simply could not believe this was so easy. I really could not urge everyone strongly enough to give this a go. Our loan was for a car we had about 6 years ago and we couldn't remember how we were sold the PPI. We really thought that at best we may be offered a token gesture of £20-£30 and since it was only costing us the price of a stamp we gave it a go. My husband literally leapt in the air and whooped when the letter came in. Please do a letter for yourself now if you haven't already.
  • I would like to thank Martin and the team. I saw the article on GMTV regarding misselling of PPI. I immediately called my bank to explain that when I was made redundant and wanted to put the policy in action I was told that because my husband and I have a joint account, the policy was taken out in joint names (although I took the loan out), because his name was the FIRST name on the policy it only related to him being made redundant. Therefore I couldn't claim!

I have just got a letter from the bank to tell me that they are awarding me £1550!!!!!

I didn't even have to use the template letter.

    Thanks for the information!!!

  • BANK: HSBC

    HOW LONG: 8 WEEKS

    HOW MUCH: £1700

This is the 2nd time I have reclaimed this year, but this time it was for my husband. He had two loans in the past ten years, so all I did was send HSBC an email which you can find on their website, saying I had two loans with them blah blah blah.... and that the loan was sold as an asumptive sell on which I hadn't been informed off. And that they should give you the two seperate prices not just the one. I received a formal letter 2 days later saying they were looking into it. You must be patient though and not bug them. After 4 weeks they still hadn't resolved it and wrote to me stating this. Anyway another 4 weeks later I called and they said they had upheld the claim and refundng the amount back. I cannot fault HSBC as they have kept me intouch every step. JUST BE PATIENT YOU MUST WAIT MAX 8 WEEKS.
In all over the past year we have claimed back £5600!!!!
Give it ago you won't lose anything.

Thankyou once again Martin Lewis, its just what we needed with our baby due anyday and christmas round the corner!!! :T :money:

Fantastic!!!! How long did this take from start to finish????:rotfl: :rotfl: :T
It took just under one month. I was prepared for it to be longer, especially when I got the bank's own forms to then fill and to go through their own complaints procedure. I was pretty amazed at how quickly they sorted it - and without a question or a quibble. Amazing.

Has anyone had any dealings with the above companies? I really want to find out how long their took before they paid out any monies.

I have a claim going on with them which I have done via a solictor and this month will make it 1 year. I would like to get some monies before Xmas which would be nice, however they both just seems to be dragging their feets and not supplying all documention that has been requested from them

Has anyone been successfully with either GE Money or Swift Advance

    Please let me know

    Thanks in advance
I have just had a letter from GE Money saying that they are going to refund me £2500 plus interest for a PPI they added to a loan 5 1/2 years ago. It has taken 6 months to get this far and they fobbed me off at every stage. I kept writing to them asking them to supply me with the evidence and the methodology used to come to their decision and eventually after i threatened court action they finally agreed to pay in full (without ever supplying me with the documentation, i don't think they had it). Am so pleased that i persevered and would urge anyone else in the same position not to give up. Thank you Martin:rotfl: :T :money:  :j
