Hi there BeverleyKim
No worries, as soon as I hear from the FOS I will post. Yes, I feel totally robbed by this and will not settle until my ppi payments are returned to me!0 -
Santander told me that because my original agreement is so old it does not come under the FOS, even though I was still making PPI payments in 2000 and probably later!! Absolutely ridiculous!!0

Hiya
In cases like this where they are unable to deal with the broker, they sometimes suggest the underwriter/insurer would have been regulated, where the broker were probably not due to the age.
I would contact the FOS again and mention about the underwriter direction.
They have suggested this area for many in the same position, good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hey guys.
Just had a call from HSBC, I had requested that they contact me when my complaint was being looked at. They informed me that a letter had gone out on Friday to say that my complaint had been upheld. I got a bit excited at that point and didnt listen as carefully as I should, but they were offering around £6400 as reimbursement for the miss-sold PPI give or take a few pounds. Will give the proper calculations when I see the letter if that would be helpful.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE ON THIS SITE, Di and co, if it hadn't been for you lot, i would have used a claims handling company who would now have taken a nice 25% of what i was owed. Those with HSBC dont give up! They are getting through them now.
Hi Harley
Firstly Congrats :money:
Secondly, roughly when did you submit your claim?
Just curious too see if it was ages before mine :rotfl:I'm a secret crime fighter0 -
MBNA responded with a cheque for £5,753 yeeehaaaa :T
my other success was egg £5,335, just awaiting Lloyds now...not holding my breath for that one!0 -

I wrote to FLA who were a waste of time, just past my letter to Santander who referred their final response back to FLA who have said to me unless I can send anything else in to prove I never agreed to PPI, Santander have won. The Santander letter to the FLA also quoted an incorrect card number and store on their letter which the FLA did not even pick up on.
I never would have agreed to PPI. I was standing at a cashier desk in the middle of Debenhams, with my three year old, do they really think that the sales assistant would have run through all the terms and conditions of the insurance with me - I don't think so.
I am waiting for my letter back from the FLA asking them what proof do they expect me to give them - and why is Santander not providing proof to me that the shop assistant sold the policy to me correctly, why is the onus on us to prove it?
Will keep you post.
Just spoke to a lovely man at the Ombudsman Office, he has advised that I complain to the underwriters of the poilcy, in 1998 they were
Financial Insurance Co Ltd and Financial Assurance co Ltd members of Companies of Consolidated Financial Insurance .
He is sending me out a complaint form and details of where to send it to.
Maybe if you gave them a call they might be able to help its only a phone call.
Fingers crossed for us both!0 -
Posted on behalf of my OH - offer received today;
- What were you reclaiming: Loan with £2,489 o/s balance
- Who was the provider: NRAM
- How much did you get back: £1,079 PPI + £518 8% interest total = £1,597
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: PPI questionnaire sent 09/05/11
- And then write your brief reclaim tale: Many thanks to all of those that provided much needed support and advice on this fantastic forum. The amount will reduce my OH's o/s balance to just under £1,000 with this provider! Two complaints upheld to date - another two in the system.
