PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

hi all - i am also trying to find success stories for Capital one
Has anyone been succesfull with them?? i took out a loan with them in 1998 -1999 and paid it off in 2001 - 2002 also had a cc with them for the same period which is still active. Ive requested the data sar and also completed the form for reclaiming.
All the others have replied and advised they are looking into well something in those lines but not Cap 1
Any advise out there on what to do / whats next / is that i am just being impatient?????
THANK YOU ALL
Hello there
A mixture of success and not maybe but hope yours is successful, sit right and hope you hear some good news soon, good luck on your reclaiming.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi all! Great to read about so many successful claims here!
Is there a 'search' option within this thread?? I am making a claim against HFC soon and was looking for inspiration!
Here's my story -
I took a loan from HFC in JAN 2005 for £10,000
18.3% APR takes the total to £17,111.64
PPI for Life Insurance = £999.16
PPI for Accident Sickness and Unemployment = £1,694.23
Interest on the PPI = £1,915.69
total £4609.08
So the grand toal to be re-paid is £21,720.72 (on an original loan of £10,000) I took this loan 'in-store' at HFC. HSBC refered me to HFC due to my poor credit rating. Once at HFC i feel HFC did not fully inform me of the PPI 'opt in' or 'opt out' choices.
In addition HFC mentioned that they needed to see a certain number of months/years original payslips before they would provide the loan. When i could not provide payslips for the necessary period i thought the chances of getting a loan was over and gave up.
A couple of weeks later HFC called out of the blue to say 'on this occasion' they are willing to proceed with the loan without seeing the original payslips' - and the loan was granted.
For what its worth i have kept up with the repayments on this loan since 2005. The repayments are due to end in 2012.
Does anyone think i have a grounds to make a successful claim against HFC for being misold PPI? Any advice or feedback would be most appreciated.
all, best regards!
Hi there
I would give it a go with the reasons you have.
Just complete the reclaim questionnaire as on step 3 below, keep copies as well, send one to their main head office or complaints dept and allow 8 weeks for a decision, good luck.

If in doubt about when you can claim, just do it! Nothing to loose and a LOT to gain.
Now I am waiting to see if there will be compensation due. Fingers crossed !

I put a claim into HSBC in March 2010. They rejected the claim so I went to the FOS adjudicator in July 2010. They agreed in my favour and told HSBC to pay up. They refused again in Nov 2010. I was then told it was being referred to the obudsman. I have been having emails from the adjudicator every 2 months saying they are still looking into, the last one in May this year.
Because of the JR outcome, do you think it's worth contacting HSBC again, or shall I just wait for the ombudsmen?? Does anyone know how long this normally takes??
Hi there
You can give HSBC a call, but I think they may possibly come back and say as your complaint is already with the FOS they are now dealing directly with them on the case, but no harm in asking though, good luck.
In my opinion, you should not be waiting as long as we normally would as if waiting for the adjudicator, I would keep in contact with the adjudicator and ask for updates in between the letters of updates every 2 months, good luck on this too.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi all
I am in the middle of reclaiming PPI charges on a MBNA credit card. I have spent the time filling out forms and getting details on PPI charges on my account, and sent off the reclaim form on 26th April. I have received 2 letters, the last one saying there is a backlog and my claim is being investigated and I will hear by the 22nd june.
I am always checking this forum and and have seen posts from people saying that because they are still using the account they are claiming from that they are not getting the 8% interest. Is this true of all claims like this? I still have the credit card and i am over the credit limit, does anyone know how this will impact my claim?
I sent the original letter to MBNA asking about how much PPI I have paid and they sent me a list of every charge from 2001 and the total is £2000. They also sent me a copy of my original agreement which shows
the PPI box NOT ticked.
Im really just after any advice on my claim, if i might have a chance and would i get the 8% ( which i guess after 10 years might make all the difference! ) Also, if I dont hear anything next week, whats my next move?
(QUOTE)
Hi I have 2 credit card claims for ppi going through with MBNA the ppi box is ticked as no but it has been added to my account by the customer call centre who sold me the credit card I am still awaiting an answer from them a letter is overdue yet I know they have a huge back log so don't want to push them just yet if letter not here this week will be on the phone to them to see. Still wondering what I would be due back they had statements going back to 1998 which ipwas my first credit card.
HERES HOPING GOOD LUCK
Hi there
I have read this differs, but hopefully someone who have had dealings with these will post back of their own experience of this company and of their own reclaim.
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi All
#I posted on Friday I had some good luck with my MBNA CC £13 k in fact.
Ive since just put in another claim for my other MBNA one , so hoping that comes back as well.
Ive already got LloydsTSB being processed as well as the original paperwork they sent me shows they miss sold me PPI.
I'm kind of looking at like a mini savings all those years, Think about it you paid all the PPI payments and never saw the money, If you had put the £30-£40 a month away no doubt you would of spent it, at least this way you get it back in 1 lump , almost like you were paying the banks to save it for youWell that's the way i look at it as its going to ensure i'm secure now.
However 1 final question all, I have a Topman store card which was with GE Capital, but as we all no Santander bought them out, Can I still write to Santander as i know again i was miss sold ppi on that card. Can this be done even though it was GE Capital at the time ??
Again thanks to MSE form for your help
Hiya
First of all well done on your success, that is wonderful, Congratulations!
I understand any GE reclaims are being sent to Santander, my son's did, and he was shortly successful.
Hopefully this can be clarified by others in the same position, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
