    Hi all

I am in the middle of reclaiming PPI charges on a MBNA credit card. I have spent the time filling out forms and getting details on PPI charges on my account, and sent off the reclaim form on 26th April. I have received 2 letters, the last one saying there is a backlog and my claim is being investigated and I will hear by the 22nd june.
I am always checking this forum and and have seen posts from people saying that because they are still using the account they are claiming from that they are not getting the 8% interest. Is this true of all claims like this? I still have the credit card and i am over the credit limit, does anyone know how this will impact my claim?
I sent the original letter to MBNA asking about how much PPI I have paid and they sent me a list of every charge from 2001 and the total is £2000. They also sent me a copy of my original agreement which shows the PPI box NOT ticked.
Im really just after any advice on my claim, if i might have a chance and would i get the 8% ( which i guess after 10 years might make all the difference! ) Also, if I dont hear anything next week, whats my next move?
Thanks in advance, this is a fantastic forum!

Hi, not the case, my payout included the 8% and my account is still active. I never even filled out any forms either, i went to their website and clicked on PPI - contact us page and just quoted my acc number and said i believe i was miss sold PPI. 4 weeks later £13k better off, they even reply to email to say thanks we are looking into it, much quicker than posting a letter off

    (QUOTE)

Hi I have 2 credit card claims for ppi going through with MBNA the ppi box is ticked as no but it has been added to my account by the customer call centre who sold me the credit card I am still awaiting an answer from them a letter is overdue yet I know they have a huge back log so don't want to push them just yet if letter not here this week will be on the phone to them to see. Still wondering what I would be due back they had statements going back to 1998 which ipwas my first credit card.

    HERES HOPING GOOD LUCK
Believe you can win and you shall win !!!
    Wins for 2010-£2450 2011-£6100 2012-£4500
    2013-£3800 2014-£1200 2015 - £6500 2016-£2500 2017 - champagne £250 shopkins toys vodka spotify vouchers book
  • I saw Martin Lewis on Daybreak in September last year urging folks to recalim the ppi on their credit cards.
I looked at my Virgin (MBNA) statements and realised I had been charged this EVENTHOUGH I HAD NEVER ASKED FOR IT TO BE ADDED and never gave my authority to do so.

So, I downloaded the forms available on this site to claim the ppi back and sent them off on 23rd September 2010 to MBNA Bank (who were running Virgin Money at the time).
I received an acknowlegement letter within a few weeks stating they would look at my case and expect a response within a set period of time (sorry, can't remember how long and can't find the letter, it wasn't a long time).

Received another letter saying they were very busy and wanted a little more time to look into the matter, but adding they would let me know results of my claim within the next 3 weeks.

Exactly 3 weeks later I received a letter of (in my opinion) complete "legal-speak" of which I did not understand a word.
Basically it said they were waiting until the court decided whether they HAD to acknowlege legitimate claims.

I was rather disappointed to say the least.
I decided to just leave it.

This morning I received a letter stating my claim was valid. I am entitled to over £1000 (this includes about £388 interest earned on the amount they "stole" from me. They have paid off my current balance of just over £165 (I still use the card regularly) and will send the a cheque for the balance withn 28 days.

The letter also says I may be due more money in the future are there is another court battle in progress (it doesn't say what).

So in a nutshell it has taken just over 7 months to get my money back and I only had to fill in Martin's pre-prepared form and send it to my card provider.

    THANKS SO MUCH MARTIN !

Yaay, got my cheque about two weeks ago and banked it. Now it's clear and ready to spend !

If in doubt about when you can claim, just do it! Nothing to loose and a LOT to gain.
Now I am waiting to see if there will be compensation due. Fingers crossed !

I recently went through my old bank documents and discovered two of my loans in 1998 and 2004 were charged with insurance premimums. I then wrote to Santander asking for refund. I received a response after a week and was offered over £3000 (including interest). I am happy with the outcome.

    The claim was straight forward!

    Fantastic:T Well done!

omg thats an amazing story of success amersall can i ask if you dont mind (hmm i seem to be asking that alot lately lol) how much did you originaly borrow?

id love to know how much id be due on a 10 year loan of either £5000 or £7000 (im not sure of that actual total as i re borrowed the original £5000 before acutaly paying off the first £5000 if that makes sense) so not even sure if i would of paid 2 lots of ppi as i had to go through another application when re newing it. in the end i paid back £14000 and it finaly ended last year thank god so god knows how much of that was ppi??? ill probably get back a fiver :rotfl:

You more than likely will have had 2 lots of ppi although the second loan would have had a rebate of the first ppi taken off.

Do you know how much the actual ppi was on each loan? as you will get all ppi on 2nd loan back less the rebate amount of the first one plus interest (if it ran to term end), with the first loan you will get ppi back that you paid to date, so if you paid it for 12 months you will get that back,as these were rolled up loans the calculations may differ slightly as it was one to refinance another.

My loan was ......92.000  how stupid can you get? not so much the loan amount, but the 23,000 ppi i foolishly took.

I have recently had a claim upheld and an offer of 5K for the last 6 years in accordance with the records they have on file.
I spoke to them and said this cant be right as I have had the card a lot longer than 6 years.
They said if I could send them further evidence beyond the 6 years records that they have, they will re calculate the redress due.

I therefore sent them copies of my statements going back over the last TWENTY years.

    I await their response.

    Matty.
You should be in for a nice windfall then :D:D
As you have proof, they cannot argue with that :T

You should get it all back if you paid ppi from the start of your card xx.
  • Hi all! Great to read about so many successful claims here!

Is there a 'search' option within this thread?? I am making a claim against HFC soon and was looking for inspiration!

    Here's my story -
I took a loan from HFC in JAN 2005 for £10,000
18.3% APR takes the total to £17,111.64

PPI for Life Insurance = £999.16
PPI for Accident Sickness and Unemployment = £1,694.23
Interest on the PPI = £1,915.69
    total £4609.08

So the grand toal to be re-paid is £21,720.72 (on an original loan of £10,000) I took this loan 'in-store' at HFC. HSBC refered me to HFC due to my poor credit rating. Once at HFC i feel HFC did not fully inform me of the PPI 'opt in' or 'opt out' choices.

In addition HFC mentioned that they needed to see a certain number of months/years original payslips before they would provide the loan. When i could not provide payslips for the necessary period i thought the chances of getting a loan was over and gave up.

A couple of weeks later HFC called out of the blue to say 'on this occasion' they are willing to proceed with the loan without seeing the original payslips' - and the loan was granted.

For what its worth i have kept up with the repayments on this loan since 2005. The repayments are due to end in 2012.

Does anyone think i have a grounds to make a successful claim against HFC for being misold PPI? Any advice or feedback would be most appreciated.

    all, best regards!
