Hi all! Great to read about so many successful claims here!

Is there a 'search' option within this thread?? I am making a claim against HFC soon and was looking for inspiration!

    Here's my story -
I took a loan from HFC in JAN 2005 for £10,000
18.3% APR takes the total to £17,111.64

PPI for Life Insurance = £999.16
PPI for Accident Sickness and Unemployment = £1,694.23
Interest on the PPI = £1,915.69
    total £4609.08

So the grand toal to be re-paid is £21,720.72 (on an original loan of £10,000) I took this loan 'in-store' at HFC. HSBC refered me to HFC due to my poor credit rating. Once at HFC i feel HFC did not fully inform me of the PPI 'opt in' or 'opt out' choices.

In addition HFC mentioned that they needed to see a certain number of months/years original payslips before they would provide the loan. When i could not provide payslips for the necessary period i thought the chances of getting a loan was over and gave up.

A couple of weeks later HFC called out of the blue to say 'on this occasion' they are willing to proceed with the loan without seeing the original payslips' - and the loan was granted.

For what its worth i have kept up with the repayments on this loan since 2005. The repayments are due to end in 2012.

Does anyone think i have a grounds to make a successful claim against HFC for being misold PPI? Any advice or feedback would be most appreciated.

    all, best regards!

hi i had a loan with hfc for £7000 and yes you would have a claim as i went through the same thing and am currently having my case looked into i havent had a result yet but they have been fined in the past for miss selling ppi insurance

    Hi All
#I posted on Friday I had some good luck with my MBNA CC £13 k in fact.
Ive since just put in another claim for my other MBNA one , so hoping that comes back as well.

Ive already got LloydsTSB being processed as well as the original paperwork they sent me shows they miss sold me PPI.

I'm kind of looking at like a mini savings all those years, Think about it you paid all the PPI payments and never saw the money, If you had put the £30-£40 a month away no doubt you would of spent it, at least this way you get it back in 1 lump , almost like you were paying the banks to save it for you :) Well that's the way i look at it as its going to ensure i'm secure now.

However 1 final question all, I have a Topman store card which was with GE Capital, but as we all no Santander bought them out, Can I still write to Santander as i know again i was miss sold ppi on that card. Can this be done even though it was GE Capital at the time ??

Again thanks to MSE form for your help

im currently going through a claim with my burtons menswear store card i had with ge money but like you say was taken over by santander so thats who i contacted they are still dealing with my request given me the right runna round with it so yes put your claim in but it seems that store cards are alot harder to claim for

    Hi all

I am in the middle of reclaiming PPI charges on a MBNA credit card. I have spent the time filling out forms and getting details on PPI charges on my account, and sent off the reclaim form on 26th April. I have received 2 letters, the last one saying there is a backlog and my claim is being investigated and I will hear by the 22nd june.
I am always checking this forum and and have seen posts from people saying that because they are still using the account they are claiming from that they are not getting the 8% interest. Is this true of all claims like this? I still have the credit card and i am over the credit limit, does anyone know how this will impact my claim?
I sent the original letter to MBNA asking about how much PPI I have paid and they sent me a list of every charge from 2001 and the total is £2000. They also sent me a copy of my original agreement which shows the PPI box NOT ticked.
Im really just after any advice on my claim, if i might have a chance and would i get the 8% ( which i guess after 10 years might make all the difference! ) Also, if I dont hear anything next week, whats my next move?
Thanks in advance, this is a fantastic forum!

i put in a claim with mbna after being miss sold ppi on my abbey credit card they refunded ppi payments back to when i opened the credit card (i didnt have the paper work for this) so good of them to refund since the sale of the card instead of just the six years (the account is about 8 years old and still running) but they did not refund the 8% i phoned to ask why and was told as i hadnt cleared the balance of the credit card between opening the account and to the current date i wasnt entitled to the 8% interest

hi all, just wanting to say thanks to the help on here i have finally heard from MBNA regarding a Virgin credit card, been ongoing since last November but they have upheld my claim (pre-exisiting medical reasons meant it was pretty obvious they would never have paid!) so £1800 off my balance has left me with almost nothing on the card to pay, very pleased with that! (they also said I wasn't eligible to have the 8% as I hadn't cleared the balance).

still waiting for Halifax to respond on a loan, and Marbles on a credit card, so fingers crossed.

huge thanks to those who list great advice, and good luck to those waiting, i emailed the CEOs to get responses and so far it's been working :)
  • Folks, currently got a claim going through hfc. Anyone got an email for CEO or anyone who can speed it up?

Yaay, got my cheque about two weeks ago and banked it. Now it's clear and ready to spend !

If in doubt about when you can claim, just do it! Nothing to loose and a LOT to gain.
Now I am waiting to see if there will be compensation due. Fingers crossed !

Hi, how long from the date of the letter did it take for your balance to be paid off ? As thats whats happening with mine, and did the chq take 28 days to arrive ?
