PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I'm new to the site and just wanted some advice.
I banked with Lloyds TSB from 1997 to 2002.
I had two loans during this time and although I no longer have the paperwork, am fairly certain they will have charged PPI - they charged for everything else!
I wrote to them with my current account number advising that both my loan monthly payments came out of this account although I couldn't trace the loan account numbers. I remember when I moved banks they wouldn't let me close my current account because of the loans, so it should be easy enough for them to trace.
First letter received back said they can't trace without loan account numbers blah blah
I wrote back stating that yes they should be able to as they have the acc. num for my current account. no reply to this letter which was received end of 2010.
I have written again complaining about lack of response to my challenge and asking for my paperwork (SAR, though will probs say they don't have these docs).
Have I got ANY chance at all of claiming back PPI? I was in a job with decent benefits at the time i.e. 6 months full pay 6 months half so would not have accepted PPI. Also, we were not financially flush, hence taking the loan, so anything to keep payments down would have been best.
Loans were for £5000 and £8000
Thanks :-)) Hope someone can advise me!
Hi and welcome
Have you also tried calling into your local branch?
I would have a word with the branch manager and ask to go through the computer filing systems with them, I've heard others have done this and have then been successful in retrieving the account details.
Also emai the CEO as well see if that helps, also send a copy to the customer care team.

Or just continue with reclaiming anyway, you never know they may even find something then, its been done to what I know of anyway, you can do this by either following the reclaiming details on this site, or directly on the banks website, its exactly the same, and a matter of completing a reclaim questionnaire, just put in the details that you do know, if you know what the amounts were that may even help, so keep at them, and good luck.

PREMIUMS - 375.30
INTEREST - 237.65
LOSS OF CASH PAYMENT - 55.25
TOTAL - 668.20

they have upheld in my favour and our refunded me my premiums paid with interest and the 8% interest
total = £216 :S
now this is where the kinda failure kicks in i took the card out in about 2002 and was paying ppi insurance until roughly 2006 when i heard about the ppi insurance scandle on mse i phoned to cancel it relising that i didnt need it,
so egg have only decided to refund from the last six years which as you can see was probably the month before i made my last ppi insurance hence such a small amount refunded
now my question is should i take the case to the ombudsman to get back the full amount i paid since 2002?? i think its really unfair that i paid all that cash when i didnt need it but i only get back a tiny amount of it because of this 6 year window, if i took it to the ombudsman as egg have upheld in my favour would they rward me the rest of the money?
Well done on your success.
Do you still have any of the details on the account going back as far as 2002?
If so they could have used what you have to help them calculate going back that far.
I know what you mean though and it does seem unfair, you do what you is right for you, you have our support.x;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Just had a letter from Egg willing to repay back £459 pounds wiping my debt with them altogether!
Yay! :money:
Capital One have offered me £99 pounds, but I am not going to take it as I am sure they owe me a lot more than that.
Now in the process of taking my grievence out with a store card. Any one else had any luck with these?
Well done on your success!
Was that the final offer on the Cap one account, if not you can ask them to reconsider the amount and request for a detailed written breakdown.
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

I just rang them and asked why a figure was not forthcoming, and was told that I would receive a pro-rata settlement if I signed the acceptance form (i.e. not the full amount). This is because (their words), although I didn't sign an agreement form for PPI, I did agree to it during a telephone call six years ago (isn't that still misselling ?).
I've probably paid approx £6,000 in premiums over six years, so would expect a decent sum back. Pro-rata could be anything ?! If I sign the form they may just offer £1k. The lady I spoke to has said she'll ask the refund team to calculate and send out a figure, but if I didn't take this offer then I would have to refer it to the FOS.
WHY OH WHY OH WHY IS NOTHING STRAIGHT FORWARD
Thoughts folks ?
Hiya
Nothing is ever straight forward, your so right there.
I know with my Lloyds last 2 I just been successful on, they stated that they would put me in the position as if no ppi was taken out, and will go along with the FOS guidelines of reclaiming.
The calculations was not sent to me until after I returned the signed acceptance forms. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi
My case is quite simliar to yours in that I have had 5 loans over the past 9 years, I first complained to HSBC 2 years ago but they fobbed me off. I've just put in my new claim about 5 weeks ago, last week I received a letter saying that claims are beig dealt with in the order received. I would like to write to the CEO as my compliant is going back 2 years, so I think it's unfai for meto wait as long. Please can you let me know the email address you used to contact HSBC's CEO and what did you say? Well done on getting your money back fab news!

Thanks very much for your reply.
Unfortunately I no longer live in England (moved back to

Can I ask what address you used to make this complaint. We had a loan with A&L but I can only find the start and end date with the last 4 figs of the account number and I sent the request for credit agreement over 2 weeks ago and no reply. Just wondering if there was a tel. number I could use to chase it up! TIA!0
