morning guys well heard from egg credit card this morning kinda success mixed in with a failure and would like some advice (no surprise there then) right so ive heard from egg credit card this morning :)

they have upheld in my favour and our refunded me my premiums paid with interest and the 8% interest

total = £216 :S

now this is where the kinda failure kicks in i took the card out in about 2002 and was paying ppi insurance until roughly 2006 when i heard about the ppi insurance scandle on mse i phoned to cancel it relising that i didnt need it,

so egg have only decided to refund from the last six years which as you can see was probably the month before i made my last ppi insurance hence such a small amount refunded :(

now my question is should i take the case to the ombudsman to get back the full amount i paid since 2002?? i think its really unfair that i paid all that cash when i didnt need it but i only get back a tiny amount of it because of this 6 year window, if i took it to the ombudsman as egg have upheld in my favour would they rward me the rest of the money?
:jWell done on your win :beer:

Think if you want ppi back for the length of the card, you will have to have statements to back this up.
I could be wrong, but people have posted on here that they got more as they had the statements to back this up.

If anyone got it all back without proof, then i am sure they will post and let you know how they got it, so you can do the same.

Hi there

Well done on your success!

But you could email them to check on the offer, ask if this will also include interest and will they be following the guidelines of calculations like the Financial ombudsman service.

Normally they will send the breakdown in writing, but when you email them ask about this the same time, good luck.
customer.care.insurance@lloydstsb.co.uk

Thank you Di.

I just rang them and asked why a figure was not forthcoming, and was told that I would receive a pro-rata settlement if I signed the acceptance form (i.e. not the full amount). This is because (their words), although I didn't sign an agreement form for PPI, I did agree to it during a telephone call six years ago (isn't that still misselling ?).

I've probably paid approx £6,000 in premiums over six years, so would expect a decent sum back. Pro-rata could be anything ?! If I sign the form they may just offer £1k. The lady I spoke to has said she'll ask the refund team to calculate and send out a figure, but if I didn't take this offer then I would have to refer it to the FOS.

WHY OH WHY OH WHY IS NOTHING STRAIGHT FORWARD

Thoughts folks ?

thanks for the reply amersall its so frustraiting as all my egg statements were electronic online so dont have any paper work for it do you think it would be worth asking for the original aggreement? or would they say they havent got it as its longer than six years?? the break down as stated by egg is

crp premiums paid over the last 6 years 102.41

refund of interest at card rate 46.69

refund of interest at the rate of 8% 67.61

total refund due £216.71

it doesnt seem right to me in comparison to the mbna refund which was

total ppi premiums charged since sale date 292.82

total amount of insterest associated with the ppi premiums 852.82

8% 00.00 (as i hadnt cleared the balance between sale and current date)

total refund £1145.64

yes i know the total premuims differ but not by a huge amount so was expecting the egg one to be of the same value??

mmm im at a bit of a loss of what to do :(

I've just put in my new claim about 5 weeks ago, last week I received a letter saying that claims are beig dealt with in the order received. I would like to write to the CEO as my compliant is going back 2 years, so I think it's unfai for meto wait as long. Please can you let me know the email address you used to contact HSBC's CEO and what did you say? Well done on getting your money back fab news!

Hi there, you could try a SAR, but as you say they may not hold the details anymore, even with the copy of the agreement, ppi may not have been on at inception, as some dont, but added at a later date.
Dont know how you could progress with this to be honest, hopefully someone else may come along who can help you more.

Hi there, i am afraid there is nothing you can do at this time, as they will be dealing with all claims in date order.
This claim has only been in 5 weeks, so you have to give them the time frame that FOS allow, and this has now been extended due to the backlog from the JR.
Had your claim been in from the 2 years ago then i would say complain, but as it stands, it is now a waiting game.
Hopefully, this will be dealt with in a decent time scale.

If you have no proof of the whole ppi payments being taken, i dont think you would have much luck with the FOS, and the waiting time there is well over a year, and after that time, your offer may be withdrawn.
