PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hiya
Check through this, this may be of some help, but if you write to Welcome you can still request for the copy of the PPI booklet details that do not always come back with the loan documents and are normally requested for separately.
This maybe useful as well though here.

Copied and pasted from the above link here below too.
Cattles plc18. Cattles plc (Cattles) is a listed financial services group which provides consumer credit to non-standard customers in the UK. The group also provides working capital finance for small- and medium-sized businesses and debt recovery services to external clients.
19. Welcome Financial Services Limited (Welcome) is the main trading entity within the group. Welcome includes the brands Welcome Finance (unsecured and secured personal loans), Shopacheck (home credit) and Welcome Car Finance (direct distribution arm for used car sales linked to car finance sales) and, until the end of 2007, Welcome Mortgages (secured credit brokerage).
20. Welcome distributes PLPPI, secured loan PPI and motor finance PPI, all of which are underwritten by Norwich Union. Claims are handled by a third party, Direct Group, which is contracted by Norwich Union to provide the service.
21. Total consumer credit income was £772 million in the year ended 31 December 2007, (2006: £581.3 million), out of a total income of £822.2 million (2006: £619.6 million).

PPI was with Cahoot (Santander). Template form sent 19th May. Received acknowledgement of complaint letter AND offer letter on 2nd June. Made one call to check complaint received a week previously - incredibly helpful team at Santander. Refund offer of 3.5k due within 28 days. Delighted. Thanks for all the advice on this site. Cross fingers with RBS complaint!
Hmmm - santander have not been so helpfull to me to date.
Long story but claim is re an OLD Alliance & Leciester card, taken over by MBNA at some point who dont want to know.
Wrote to Santander(now owner of A&L) mid April - not heard a dicky bird to date.
Assumed they were / are playing the 8 week rule....
Time will tell.
Well done on your win though - Im not jealous at all by the way!!!0 -
- What were you reclaiming: PPI against a loan
- Who was the provider: Alliance & Leicester (now Santander)
- How much did you get back?: Almost £6800 - which consists of all monies paid plus 8%
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman:? Letter
- And then write your brief reclaim tale: Used the template letter from this site, got a prompt response via telephone stating we had a case & that it was being passed to a "handler", few days later received a letter with a formal offer & breakdown explaining how the figure had been reached. This process was so simple it was almost sublime, so my advice would be to give it a go yourself & don't use any of the companies that offer to do this for you - they'll take a chunk of your cash (sometimes up to 25%) for doing so! Had to bring the Mrs down to earth as she thought we'd won the lottery, when really it's our money that we never should have paid in the first place, although a 8% return is arguably better than if it had been stuck in a savings account!!
Brilliant.. well done:T:T:T:money:Footiemad:footie: 2013 - SPC no.1147...Keeep potting!!

Wrote to them, they responded and after some 12 weeks I was offered £2476 in full settlement. I accepted and this amount was credited to my credit card account. Whew! Thanks MoneySaving expert.

Hi Everyone,
Has anyone had any success with claiming PPI with Natwest?
My claim has been on hold since October....
I was thinking of emailing the CEO does anyone have the details?
Cheers
Aurum
I initially submitted my complaint back in November then received a reply stating they did not recognise the account number. Strange as they are STILL collecting payments from this account and I can see it live via online banking. Have written and told them this and enclosed a copy of the agreement...still no reply. So I wrote again... still no reply.
My loan was for £20k with PPI of £4901 as a single payment (only covering 5yrs) plus interest = £31k over 7 years. Rip off merchants.
As I know the figures involved should I just skip the Ombudsman and go through the Courts? Any advice gratefully received. I am about to go nuclear :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:0 -

Hi there
Blimey so sorry to hear of the issues here.
I am really surprised they have not got back after providing them with evidence as well.
Have you tried writing/emailing the Chief Executive officer/CEO?
I take it this is with Natwest as well?
As far as I know its the same CEO as RBS

I've no experience of using the courts, but it will come under the small clams courts category, hopefully someone who have experienced this direction will post up with some details for you.
Maybe if you've not done so already, is email the above first and if no response within a few days, then make arranged for the courts, let them know that as well, good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
